Book Launch: Negotiating Legitimacy - Rituals and Reflection in Schools

category sligo | education | event notice author Friday February 28, 2014 21:53author by robert Report this post to the editors

Thursday, 6th of March, 5.20 p.m. - at IT Sligo, Library Social Zone - book launch of "Negotiating Legitimacy - Rituals and Reflection in Schools" - all welcome.

"Negotiating Legitimacy - Rituals and Reflection in Schools" is a newly published book in which educational practice is critically looked at through the lenses of ritual analysis. The book is based on a research project carried out by Robert Hamm in which teachers from Irish primary schools, German mainstream and Free Alternative Schools took part. A particular focus is put on the issue of reflection of teachers on their everyday practice. In the book it is suggested to systematically apply a concept of reflection as a social act rather than a solitary activity.
The book launch takes place at Sligo IT, Library Social Zone on Thursday, 6th of March, 5.30 p.m. and everybody is welcome to attend. The launch will be a very informal affair.
There is information on the book also available via www.schoolandritual.com.
