A call to mobilise media pubilicity for the 27th Spetember Mobilisation
As part of building any protest or movement of opposition using the media to gain publicity for the voice of that protest can be said to be essential.

There are however many ideas on how to best go about publicising an Anti War Gathering and that is where creative minds come in.
Yes press releases have and will be done as will a press conference and letter writing into local and national media,Alongside the usual postering and leafletting various areas and venues.
Everyone however can help pass on the importance of getting onto the streets on the 27th September as they did on February 15th 2002.
In Belfast people need to be made consistently aware of the importance of showing opposition to this current illegal and immoral occupation of Iraqi nation and their land.
So calling creative minds to both suggest and aid us in getting this message across. If you have time to help or ideas to contribute contact information is included above.

Just e-mailing around to everyone on your email list is the obvious (but so obvious often skipped) first thing everyone can do. BUT DO IT NOW! You can always send a reminder email later on next week. And dont just email to those that you immediately know - email to every god damn e-mail address you know!
Send a link to the anti-war movment page:-
http://irishantiwar.org
(and a link to Indymedia)
but always better to try to have the info. actually on your email so it can immediately be seen rather than having to click onto another site to see the info.
On antiwar site you can download the info. leaflet and copy & paste this onto your email.

Also, of course text messaging can be used - and is a more personal & effective way of trying to get people you know to go. The mobile websites as most people probably know give you a free amount of texts every month so use it.
Actually ringing those you know is obviously another of spreading the word and thy most effective way of encouraging people to go.

Aine, would also strongly advise, if not doing so already, to follow up all press releases and letter writing - with phone calls. Always the harder thing to do but always more effective.

I assume also the good people of Indymedia will be putting up a front page feature on September 27th, rather soon? Sooner the better at this stage I reckon.
However, I think emailing EVERYONE is more likely to be counter-productive. Some thought should be put into who you will include on your list of recipients. Many people who would be interested will hear about it from other lists they're on and won't appreciate getting the same news twice. Those who aren't interested will just get annoyed about being spammed. People who know you personally and are aware of your sincerity will obviously be an exception. Most of my friends are generally apathetic and I don't want to piss them off with emails every week so I reserve such mailouts for the more important issues.
I wouldn't make the email too long as those who are uninterested or only mildly interested will probably skip it unless you manage to grab their attention in the first few lines. Large attachments should also be avoided out of consideration for those with dial-up connections.
