Sustainable Ireland is currently producing a Green Map for Dublin. This community-based map aims to promote environmental as well as social and cultural resources. It is a way to green the city, a globally designed strategy for promoting and linking environmental resources within the city and a way to make people act in a more sustainable way. More information can be found at http://www.greenmap.com
At this time, we have completed the first phase of the project; everything you need to know about recycling facilities can be found at Cultivate, the Sustainable Living Centre, 15 – 19 Essex Street West in Temple Bar. A map of these faclities is on the wall of our shop. So if you have been putting of your recycling because of your uncertainty about where to bring your recyclable materials, you have no excuse anymore... Otherwise, you can check our website at the following address http://www.sustainable.ie/ireland/greenflash.html
This map is based on community involvement. Many people know of one or more 'green sites' such as vegetarian restaurants, Fair Trade shops, eco-information centres, natural resources, bicycle sites, political or social organizations or a public art spot (and a lot more). If you would like to see it included, there are 2 ways:
First, come along to Cultivate, add a sticker on our map on the wall and fill out a site nomination form.
Or, you can send an e-mail to ../mailto:greenmap@sustainable.ie with the name and address of the site, closest set of cross streets, either your own or the site's contact details and the reason for including (environmental, cultural, or social aspect of the site).
We hope to see you soon!
