Public meeting with Mary van Lieshout in Menlo Park Hotel
The distinguished Iraqi writer, Haifa Zangana, will speak at a Galway Alliance Against War public meeting in the Menlo Park Hotel, Headford Road on Tuesday (22 June) at 8 pm. Also on the platform will be Mary van Lieshout of US Citizens in Ireland Against War.
Haifa Zangana served a term in Abu Ghraib, and was tortured in another prison for her anti-Ba'ath stance. She has lived in England since the 1970s.
For those unable to make them meeting, there will be other opportunities to hear Ms Zangana on Tuesday. She is a guest on Morning Ireland (c.8.30 am) on Galway Bay FM's Keith Finnegan programme (some time after 10.30 am, on Flirt FM's current affairs show, and on Today FM's Five-Seven Live. She is also recording a segment for TV3 News.
Some of you in the Galway area may wish to pop along to the Women Studies seminar on Iraqi literature which will be led by Ms Zangana. It takes place (also on Tuesday) between 1.30 pm and 3 pm in the Centre for Human Settlement and Historical Change at NUI, Galway
