Members of SHAC Ireland joined forces with members of SHAC UK for a four day campaign to show companies tied up with Huntingdon Life Sciences here in Ireland that we're not prepared to let them profit from animal abuse.
SHAC targets such as Yamanouchi, UPS and Fujisawa had noisy demonstrations held outside their premises. Drums, megaphones and airhorns were used and leaflets were distributed to neighbouring companies and passers-by. Many people told us that they had no idea what sort of corrupt companies they worked beside. And they told us that they fully supported our campaign.
UPS, who are regular visitors to HLS, have shown how frightened they are by hiring a private investigator to follow us from one demo to another. And how much tax payer's money was wasted when Gardai showed up in force to harass us for holding peaceful demonstrations.
Gateway To Hell targets, El Al and Air Japan, were also paid a visit. These companies fly primates and other animals into vivisection labs in the UK such as HLS to be tortured and killed. Most of the primates have been captured from the wild, for profit, torture and pointless research.
Last on the list was a SPEAK target, Atlantic Philanthropies Ltd. Atlantic Philanthropies Ltd. have played a large part in keeping Oxford University open. They have given donations of one million pounds sterling to help fund research at the college. Our demo was to make them realise that they need to stop any future funding until the University stops promoting scientific fraud and cruelty, and starts practicing real science instead.
Passers-by, neighbouring companies and the Gardai were shocked when they found out what Atlantic Philanthropies were funding. We quickly ran out of leaflets after people had read our banner and wanted to know more about what sadistic scumbags Atlantic Philanthropies were tied up with. Many said they would be phoning or writing to Atlantic Philanthropies to pledge their disgust.
