CAFTA Agreement in the Offing?

Central American Free Trade Agreement- Hugo Chavez's got a new Friend.

Ortega promised to uphold the trade agreement and will probably be buddies
with Hugo Chavez, which will displease Bush, however given Ortega's recent
aqquistion of God and anti-women voting- not overtly concerned.

The exit polls are suggesting Ortega is in the lead after 15% of the Ballots
have been opened, the liberal party are polling 7% and they are the nearest
political rivals.

The Americas are looking very interesting ,two lefties are involved in massive
capital accquistion and investment, with the telling signs of repressions of the
impoverished. Chavez is focussing on army and Oil,Ortega on CAFTA and the
Catholic Church. Meanwhie the Fox/Ruiz regime (part-sponsored by the US of A)
are heavily involved in repressing emergent democratic Movements In Oaxaca.

Fidel Castro isn't well and the Mid-terms are coming up.

The Nicaraguan election was monitored by international groups and there
has been not a whisper of corruption, unlike in Mexico where the Calderon
Regime has been accused of cooking the books.

Ortega, once the Sandinista champion, has voted with the right on women's
reproductive rights and banned all abortions, including medicinal/therapeutic
abortion and the removal of the foetus from the fallopian tubes in the
cases of ectopic pregnancy. Women who have an abortion In Nicaragua
are facing between six and thirty years , as are doctors who carry out the
procedure.

Ortega got religion and one of the population control mechanisms of a burgeoning
economy is to 'encourage' a population rise.

So, on the one hand the economy looks set to improve, there will be an alliance
between Chavez and Ortega and the enrichment will displease Bush.
However forward investment in a catholic dominated country with low workers
wages and a privileged elite is the western way-isn't it?

The Poor will get poorer.
