Arrest of Republican condemned

***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***
The Republican Socialist Youth Movement condemns without reservation the arrest today of an individual in the Bogside area. This arrest in our opinion is entirely politically motivated and adds great validity to our claims that the RUC embodied today by the PSNI is entirely irreformable. The PSNI have shown they will continue to fulfill the role of any other police force in defending the present system and capitalist interests here.
Republican Socialist Youth Movement spokesperson Chris Duffy commented
“The fact that PSNI were present at John White's funeral is a clear attempt to provoke in itself. John's funeral was attended by Republicans and Socialists from all over the country. John was held in high regard by many across the political spectrum, this was very clear from the numbers at todays funeral.
“Republicans have honoured the passing of comrades in this tradition for many years and hopefully they will continue to so. We do not need the prior approval of the PSNI or anyone else on how we as Republican Socialists should conduct ourselves."
Mr. Duffy concluded
"There is absolutely no evidence on the individual arrested, we wish him well and hope that is he returned to his family."
