Help needed to deliver gifts to kids of working class prisoners

Belfast Anarchist Black Cross intends to launch what it hopes will become an annual Christmas initiative to help bring some humanity to the kids of working class prisoners here.

The ABC Christmas appeal will aim to raise funds in order to distribute gifts to visiting kids leaving the prisons at what is an extremely difficult time for people already living in traumatic circumstances.

Prison visitors are generally looked down on by screws who enforce on them degrading body searches and sniffer dogs, this goes for children as well and at a time when the rest of the world is smiling and patting itself on the back, the thought of innocent kids being criminalised for the alleged actions of their parents is particularly distasteful.

This is a first for Belfast ABC and we are not enitirely sure of how it will work out, as always we trust in initiative and will learn as we go along.

We will be holding a fundraiser in the near future but do of course appeal to others to help us out with funds, transport and ideas.

Any person who wants to help can get us on 07901578886 , via the myspace site or at abc.belfast@googlemail.com
