Support for measures contained within the so-called “Counter-Terrorism Bill” in Stormont by members of the Provisional party marks a new low for their morally bankrupt party, a spokesman for Republican Sinn Féin said today.
RSF Director of Publicity, Richard Walsh, said:
“There is much speculation that this move formed part of a deal between the Provos and the DUP to resurrect the defunct 'Executive'. Their support for measures combatting so-called 'money-laundering' following the surrender of funds to the so-called 'Criminal Assets Bureau' in the 26-Counties by 'Slab' Murphy is especially ironic, given Provo leader Gerry Adams' public support for him.
“Schedule 7 is entitled 'Terrorist financing and money laundering'. Provisional elements have claimed that they backed an amendment as they felt that it would be useful for dealing with this issue.
“The Provos have become everything which they previously derided as treacherous. Of course, their former assessment remains valid today.”
