5,000 frontline public service staff took to the streets to vent their anger at further attacks on their pay and conditions.

Organisers had only expected 1,000 to turn out. Numbers on the street exceeded this.

Eugene Dennehy, Deputy General Secretary of the Prison Officers Association, spoke of support for the Irish Army who had been prevented from attending the protest. What angered many was the relentless attack on public sector workers by politicians and certain sections of the media.

The Government was warned that further action would be taken, called phase three.

Watch the members from the various Frontline services give their opinion.
