Many Irish people and members of the Palestinian and wider Arab communities came out on a bitter afternoon to show their support for the Palestinians still under siege.
The Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) held two protests in Dublin on New Year's Eve. The first, at the Ha'penny bridge over the the river Liffey to show solidarity with Gazans. The second protest at the Egyptian Embassy was over Egypt's obstruction of international solidarity activists and because of its hindering of the 'Viva Palestina' Gaza aid convoy.
Speakers on the day included Freda Hughes (IPSC) and Dr David Landy (Chair IPSC).
