NOTW "heinous" and "despicable"

In March 2002, while police were investigating the disappearance of thirteen-year-old schoolgirl Millie Dowler, the "News Of The World" hacked into Millie's phone messages with the help of its own full-time private investigator, Glenn Mulcaire.

Millie disappeared on the 21st of March 2002. While the police investigation was under way the "News Of The World" not only hacked into her phone, but also DELETED some of the earlier messages to make space for more.

The "News of the World" is to close. Next Sundays edition will be the last according to a statement from James Murdoch, son of Rupert Murdoch. It will not run any ads in the final edition.
Looks as if their ace sports writer Bertie will have to climb back into his cupboard or fridge, or whatever it was.
