Kenny's frugality with the truth

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | opinion/analysis author Sunday October 23, 2011 14:05author by newsmedia - newsmedianews Report this post to the editors

According to Enda Kenny, the Irish people are dumb, maleable and stupid. When asking people to support a referendum vote on something as important as changing the Irish Consitution, it is simply not enough to say “This is about fairness” and hope as he obviously does that people will simply sit back in satisfaction and accept his words.

No, Mr Kenny, it takes a little more than that. Although you were not Taoiseach at the time, the same people still remember the utter fiasco of the Lisbon Treaty referendum, when their decision was made but rejected as it was out of line with the government's desire.

This latest referendum is not about fairness—it is about giving extraordinary sweeping powers to the government under a thinly drawn guise of legality.

I have never agreed with Enda Kenny before as he makes my blood boil. For once though I have to agree with him, the Irish people are dumb maleble and stupid. kenny and Co codded the people with thier YES campaign during Lisbon 2 and it worked wonderfully. People panicked and voted YES. I have talked to many many people since Lisbon 2 and each time I hear someone whinge about the state of the country I ask them which way they voted in Lisbon 2. I have yet to meet someone who voted yes, ''Oh I voted No'' every lying gobshite ye meet say's they voted no, is'nt that amazing. As much as I am anti-war ect and had concerns about the direction we were heading in if we voted yes, my main concern was that if Lisbon was passed we would be going backwards as regards workers rights. We were warned that if we did vote yes we would suffer for this and have less rights. You only had to look at the people who campaigned for the YES vote, grabby politicians who's only interest in life is personal gain. I can say is that Kenny is right, the Irish people are dumb, maleable and stupid. Why does none tackle the fuckers when they canvas for votes ? People should be persecuting Kenny and Mitchel. They should be asking WHERE ARE THE LISBON JOBS ? FF and Labour should also be attacked for decieving everyone.

"2. When conducting any such inquiry, either or both Houses would have the power to inquire into the conduct of any person and the power to make relevant findings about that person’s conduct."

They (both Houses) could make a very useful start by conducting an inquiry into their own conduct relating to such things as unconstitutional activities and legislation relating to the bank bailouts and the great oil and gas giveaway.

"... and, that all of this outrageous behaviour is being grossly compounded by the fact that the Republic of Ireland's entire legal profession apparently believes it is entirely “okay” for the "individuals and public bodies and officials" concerned to commit the most serious of crimes, with total impunity, against those who challenge government wrongdoing ..."
