Festive revellers may have to be careful which tunes they pick for a Christmas sing-along down at the pub, as songs like ?Baby It?s Cold Outside?, ?Do They Know It?s Christmas??, and ?Jingle Bells? might offend the staff.

Job Destruction Accelerates under the Blueshirts/Labour :-(

category national | worker & community struggles and protests | news report author Tuesday December 13, 2011 15:49author by Pól Ó Cionsalíghauthor email paulbkinsella at gmail dot comauthor address An Chúlóg, Báile Átha Cliath 17author phone 0851478100 Report this post to the editors

The rate of job destruction has accelerated in the quarter July to September 2011. On a seasonally adjusted basis, employment fell by 20,500 (-1.1%) in the quarter. This follows on from a seasonally adjusted fall in employment of 4,100 (-0.2%) in Q2 2011. This means that 20,500 more jobs were destroyed than were created in the quarter.  Minister Bruton's "Job Creation" measures had already been introduced in June. The continuation of the FF/Green austerity programme by Lab/FG destroyed far more jobs than were created(if any) by the Bruton measures.

Any suggestion that these job losses can be explained by seasonal workers bein laid off after the summer is completely wrong. These are seasonally adjusted figures. This means that such factors have already been taken into account.   The number in employment is a far more reliable and telling statistic than the unemployment rate This is due to a number of factors. The unemployment rate is reduced by emigration and by many who have exhausted their benefit being ineligible for means-tested assistance payments It is to be noted that the unemployment rate went up by 0.2% in the quarter while the number in employment decreased by 1.1% On a year on year basis the number unemployed went up by 15,700 but the number in employment went down by 46,000. It is worth noting that the job losses at Talk Talk did not actually take place until Oct 7 and the feared job losses at MBNA(Carrick-on-Shannon) had not yet occurred and are not reflected in these figures.

With 420 Thousand people now out of work , this is a national disgrace that is simply unacceptable. What can be done about this ? Has there been any meetings organised by the politicans in their constituences to see what can be done?

If nothing can be done then couples should ask themselves wheather it is responsible to bring children into the mess that is looming in the world. Doing nothing is no longer an option. Anyone observing the first world economy should know that the world is now saturated with products, mainly produced by machines of production, that when setup need very little human intervention. The head of the IMF Ms Largade recently stated that the growth in eurozone, sadly now gone negative was not accompanyed by a rise in employment. Nothing will happen unless someone does something and it looks like the politicans North and South have been reduced to the level of mere observers. Does anybody think emigration will solve the problem, I can tell them this is not the fifties or sixties, there is little or nothing out there and definitely no surplus income on the road like the old days. It would be criminal to subject yet another generation to the road whilst the privelleged do nothing other than sit on their pious arses.

and we were 'led to believe' the Irish Army was on standby should the unemployment figures ' hit ' the 100,000 mark , that statement was issued in the 80s , as per usual with the lie-on-lie == one big Lie it has never been implemented by either political party because they know how we put up & shut up , or else....
