Leonard Peltier Benefit Comedy Night

category dublin | anti-capitalism | event notice author Thursday December 22, 2011 12:45author by James Connolly Soviet Report this post to the editors

On the 20th of January, 2012, The Last Friday Comedy Club, at the Maple Hotel, 74 Lr. Gardiner St. Dublin, will be held as a benefit night for the campaign to have Leonard Peltier released.

On Feb 6, 2012, there will be worldwide demonstrations held outside US embassies, to highlight the criminal incarceration of this Native American hero by the racist, imperialist, US state. He has now been in jail for 36 years, for helping to defend his people from Anglo-Saxon attack. No release date has been given. This benefit night will be for the purpose of bringing a speaker from Leonard's reservation, to address the demonstration at the US embassy in Dublin, and to speak at other venues around Ireland. We ask people of good will to do their best to support this worthy cause. We will confirm the comedians for the night after Christmas. Beirígí bua agus beannacht. For more information on Leonard Peltier, please see:

This Friday, the 20th of Jan, we will be holding a comedy night to raise funds for the campaign to release Leonard Peltier - a Native American, who has been held in prison for 36 years without any evidence. This is a shocking miscarriage of justice. On the night, we will have two of Ireland's top comedians - Aidan Killian and Abie Philbin Bowman. There will be rebel music till very late after the comedy. Covered and heated smoking area and cheap pints. Door 10 euro. Please make an effort to support this most worthy of causes.
