Aston Villa's ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans reeks of anti-Israel politics, not concerns over safety, argues Jack Watson, who says Birmingham officials and an MP with pro-Gaza ties have let prejudice trump fair play.

Lock-on Stops Trucks on the Corrib Haulage Route

category mayo | anti-capitalism | news report author Thursday May 03, 2012 16:27author by Shell to Sea Report this post to the editors

A lock-on this morning held up traffic for 3 and half hours between Bellanaboy and the Aughoose compound.
The lock-on
The lock-on

One person in a concrete lock-on in the middle of the road stopped the morning’s haulage – the first truck to come along was a huge crane which had to turn in the road and go back the way it had come.

Guys. You lost the support of the Irish people years ago.
Give it up.
For all the talk of "Mayo" "communities" etc, everyone knows its losers in dreadlocks protesting - they dont care about us, just their own egos.
Everyone here in Donegal supports the reasonable people in W Mayo, not a bunch of facists & anarchists.

..glad you care so much.

Suggest you do a little research on your terms 'fascists' and 'anarchists' before you swing them round like a mercenary in a corner.

You'll find its Shell and other supra-national resource-pirates have a record of fascistic behaviours across the globe for over a century; which is hardly surprising given their origins in European imperial adventures in the Midddle East, and beyond.

From Donegal to Cork and Dublin to Antrim reasonable people are aware, if they are paying attention, that the people of Bellmullet appreciate the support they receive from many diverse quarters.

Drop down and ask for yourself. Or are you already there?

To the No One Cares comment; a lot more people might care if they knew what was going on but the mainstream media, like it or loath it, keeps the story and the multiple stories of injustice in Rossport under wraps.

It is long past the time to advertise the websites on the streets, the best websites may exist but if only the usual suspects, (no insult meant) read them, they may as well not exist as far as the bulk of the population are concerned.

The way things are and have been going, all the news is staying here in Mayo and is effectively kept under wraps, just where the powers that be want it kept.

It's as if the internet as a tool for reaching broad masses of people does not exist.

A great tragedy really.

fascism is defined as "when corporations and the government merge"

shell + FF + FG + gardai + media VS some principled people protesting

By the normal definition, which side is more likely to be the fascists?

All you have to do is look at today's Times - 'State should double take on Gas finds' etc. to see just how effective the campaign

in Erris has been. Try to read that article without any preconceived ideas about the type of people who have put themselves on

the line for many years in Erris, locals and outsiders alike, and ask yourself if our Government would now be openly debaiting

a possible 80% tax rake on oil and gas finds if the people of Erris and their supporters hadn't done the hard miles against

totally overwhelming odds. Basically. if it wasn't for our efforts, our oil and gas would be given away in its entirety without even

a whimper from the agencies and departments entrusted with the stewardship of our natural resources. And don't make

rubbish statements about speaking for 'everyone in Donegal' because that just makes you look like a total eegit. The people

of Donegal can make up their own minds about this, and I very much doubt if they've appointed a plonker like you to be their

spokesperson. Get a life and an education about these issues before you come on here and show off your ignorance again.

It's better to remain silent and be considered a fool than to open your mouth and confirm the fact.
