Help Stop Homophobic & Transphobic Law in Ukraine

category dublin | gender and sexuality | event notice author Monday July 02, 2012 23:34author by lgbtnoiseauthor email info at lgbtnoise dot ie Report this post to the editors

As we just enjoyed our own Pride celebrations here in Dublin we ask you to show your support and solidarity with LGBT people in Ukraine and join Noise along with other LGBT groups to protest outside the Ukrainian Embassy on Elgin Road, Ballsbridge on Wednesday the 4th of July at 18:30.

We hope you enjoyed Pride as much as we did! If you did please help us to ensure that people in the Ukraine can express their identities too.

On July 3-6, 2012, The Ukrainian Parliament has scheduled a reading of legislation which would ban "homosexuality promotion". Another similar bill which would provide for criminal penalities for so called ?homosexual propaganda? is also pending. This proposed legislation would have a devastating impact on the lives of LGBT people in Ukraine it would also have a huge impact on the rights and civil liberties of all people living in Ukraine. This legislation has cross party support in Ukraine and, unbelievably, is supported by the Freedom of Speech and Information Committee of the Ukrainian parliament.

The Noise Team
