Should governments be able to censor online content for the entire world? That's what Australia is claiming the right to do. But do they really think China and Russia should be able to choose what the world sees?

Direct Action carried out against Israeli goods, Belfast

category antrim | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Friday November 16, 2012 18:12author by RNU PRO - Republican Network for Unityauthor email rnupro at gmail dot com Report this post to the editors

Republican Network for Unity today (Friday 16th November) in response to the on-going Israeli slaughter of Palestinian citizens carried out a direct action against the Dead Sea Salt Company trading stations based in Castle Court shopping complex in Belfast.
Israeli traders, dealing in stolen Palestinian resources feel fear from above and flee.
Israeli traders, dealing in stolen Palestinian resources feel fear from above and flee.

The Stalls which are situated in two separate parts of the shopping mall sell products which are stolen from occupied Palestinian territory; its presence in the centre of Belfast is an affront to freedom loving people everywhere.

We understand that activists dropped 6 paint bombs made from balloons and red paint from the balcony on to the stall, to symbolise the trauma created during Israeli air assaults on Palestinian citizens. A baby doll covered in red paint was also left at the kiosk in reference to the murder of Palestinian children in the latest round of Israeli air strikes.
.
We understand that this direct action may have been frightening for workers and shoppers alike and this is unfortunate. But we make no apologies for highlighting the immoral nature of the dead sea trading stations and hope that today’s events will encourage people to examine their conscience and stop helping people profit from the torture of Palestine.

For as long as this Kiosk remains in operation, RNU will consider further direct actions upon it.

Aaahh, frightening off sales girls, how brave. But they should have gave you back a little doll dressed up as a prison officer covered in blood.

Those who acted today were considerably braver than those in Israel and around the world who failed to act in 2009 as the Israeli state slaughtered hundreds of captive children, maiming many more and terrorising an entire population. In brighton today we marched to, picketed and blockaded an israeli business, May there be many more actions like these. i assume your concern for the frightened shop girl in Belfast extends to the terrified children who cannot leave Gaza as they await the onslaught of the Israeli army.

I support a free Palestine.

I oppose the occupation.

I have been to the West Bank and have been working for years on conflict resolution and resistance projects.

But I do not and I cannot support this.

It doesn't help.

Sorry.

I am an Israeli Jew and a highly qualified brain surgeon and was previously a member of the Israeli Knesset until I realised the error of my ways and I applaud this kind of boycotting action because it puts strong pressure on my former comrades from Israeli businesses located in other countries to get them to stop making war and bullying poor brown people.

My point is, I believe the previous post is fake and is just a cynical trick.
You see, people can claim anything they like in an anonymous post on a website in order to confidence trick the reader into believing any subsequent propaganda statements they might make. It is a well known trick used by astro turfers and propagandists.

I agree with the sentiments expressed in the above post.

I'm a senior member of the Israeli Military, I had no choice in this - I was conscripted at gunpoint against my will (100% true!!!!) - but am sick to death of being expected to kill Arab people just so sicko psychopaths can get their kicks seeing "Arabs" being murdered. So I applaud these boycotters and wish them ever success

"As a Jew who escaped the Holocaust in a Kindertransport 74 years ago and who voluntarily joined the British army to help fight the evil of Nazism, I utterly condemn the disproportionate response of the Israeli government to the Hamas rocket attacks.

I am dismayed that both the British and American governments have given Israel carte blanche for these acts of barbarity in Gaza. Has the world learned nothing since Guernica?"
