Demonstation at the Greek embassy in solidarity with Greek anti-fascists, and against Golden Dawn

As fascism and racist attacks continue to grow in Greece and with the rising popularity of Golden Dawn, the physical presence of organised fascists on the streets of Greece has increased. Greek anti-fascists are ramping up their presence on the streets of Athens and other cities and are confronting the threat of Golden Dawn while defending minorities groups.

Over 100 people turned out at the Greek embassy in Dublin to support Greek anti-fascists, while solidarity demonstrations also took place in Cork and Derry.

As fascism and racist attacks continue to grow in Greece and with the rising popularity of Golden Dawn, the physical presence of organised fascists on the streets of Greece has increased. Greek anti-fascists are ramping up their presence on the streets of Athens and other cities, confronting the threat of Golden Dawn while defending minorities groups.

There were solidarity events held all over Europe and beyond. In Athens thousands filled the streets to express their opposition to Golden Dawn and fascism, many migrant groups rallied for the demonstration. In Dublin, over 100 people turned out at the Greek embassy to support Greek anti-fascists. About 60 lively protesters marched from Stephen's Green to the Greek embassy, where they met with activists from Ireland's Anti-Racist Network (ARN). At the embassy we heard speeches from an activist from ARN, a Greek-Irish activist, one of the march organisers, and an academic amongst others.

The march was lively and well attended with many flags, placards, banners, whistles and music. There were also solidarity demonstrations in Cork and Derry.
