Hares forced to "perform" in appalling weather conditions over Christmas

category international | environment | opinion/analysis author Friday January 03, 2014 21:03author by Cruelty is the issue Report this post to the editors

Hare coursing can legally be held in THE WORST POSSIBLE WEATHER CONDITIONS. The cowardly politicians who refuse to legislate against it also refuse to clamp down on even this additional cruelty.

Over the festive season, hares were forced to run from salivating dogs (to be mauled and tossed about like rag-dolls) in the worst weather conditions for years...and the coursing clubs not only permitted this cruelty but are actively boasting about the fact the fans “braved” the elements to enjoy the fun! It's not enough to cruelly ill-treat these gentle creatures. The "sportspeople" must also do it in circumstances that no other sport would tolerate.

Let’ s hope 2014 sees some progress in getting this insult to the name of “sport” once and for all in Ireland.
