Incentive to Recycle will go down. Material will be mixed with general waste and sent to new Dublin incinerator If there was ever a way to discourage recycling it is to charge for it. But there is more to this story. Way back during the Bin Tax campaign it was said that the original plan was to charge for recycling and all along the plan was to send most of the recycling material like paper, cardboard and plastic to feed the huge incinerator then planned for Dublin. The Sunday Business Post is reporting that Environment Minister Alan Kelly has signed off on plans to have people pay for every kilo of waste they produce - including the contents of their green bins. |

Jump To Comment: 1Not only that, but the huge incinerator will likely start accepting other people's waste for incineration to fill it's deliberately huge capacity. Because this is what they intended all along.
We will become a dumpsite for the EU as ships full of the dodgiest waste you can think of, pull up and dump their loads for incineration. Our air quality and public health is of no importance to them of course. Just another "externality" in the capitalist cycle. Along with the medical costs of treating increased levels of asthma and other respiratory problems plus cancers
in the Dublin area from breathing in dioxins and other equally toxic chemical residues of the incineration process if not done absolutely perfectly. And It won't be of course.
No the taxpayer will be left to deal with the issues, through more taxes and through paying directly for their children's health problems. We can't fix the air quality.
Once it's polluted, it's polluted. The rain will wash it all from the air into the soil and into the water. Plants and animals will absorb it and concentrate it. We will eat them.
Then It will be concentrated in US. After that, what happens is just a biological lottery....
