Nothing we've learned about the Covid vaccines since 2020 should be a surprise, says Dr David Bell. Spreading throughout the body, hanging around for weeks, failing to stop infection ? this is how they were designed.

what’s on the Agenda for PyCon 2018

category dublin | sci-tech | event notice author Thursday October 25, 2018 17:52author by Nicolas Laurance - Python Irelandauthor email nicolaslaurance at python dot ie Report this post to the editors

Coding in Schools, Women in Programming, and Returning to the Workplace

PyCon 2018, the 9th annual conference for the Python programming language in Ireland, will be held Saturday 10th – Sunday 11th November in the Radisson Blu hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 8 and is set to attract over 400 software developers this year.

A very broad schedule is being planned, including presentations, keynotes and hands-on workshops.
Topics span the range of Python programming activity from introductory to advanced. Some topics are perennial such as data science and AI, others focus on recent news such as the introduction of Computer Science as part of the Leaving Certificate (with Python part of the small selection of programming languages that will be part of it) and new developments in Python for the Windows operating system as well as a talk on the latest version of Python,. A talk on Bitcoin is also expected to be highly popular. One of the more interesting talks scheduled is “Autism in the Developer Workplace” as diagnoses of autism are increasing, so too is the understanding that the workplace, particularly in STEM, can benefit from their gifts.
This year, Python Ireland is also focusing on other initiatives such as supporting women in tech, and Women ReBOOT and is really pushing for more women to be involved in programming and STEM as a whole.
Our workshop on Saturday will focus on introducing people who are new to programming to web development using a python web framework. The Career Reboot Workshop on Saturday evening will provide practical advice for people returning to work after a career break.

Women ReBOOT is a national tech sector initiative for experienced and qualified ICT women who have taken a career break.

Key note speakers for PyCon Ireland are the following:
· Miguel Grinberg – Lead Software Developer with Edge Tier and author.
· Keith Quille, Associate Lecturer, Department of Computing, IT Tallaght
