offsite link Beware: The Covid Inquiry is an Attack on Democracy Sat Jun 10, 2023 09:00 | J Sorel
The Covid Inquiry hopes to rebrand lockdown as a noble cause, led astray by guilty men. In this way it seeks to revive the moral case for restrictions, and, still more, the moral case for the civil service.

The Case of Enoch Burke

It is an arresting coincidence that the course of Enoch Burke's trial is in full flow at this time. The Burke case echoes the gospel readings for Holy Week which is now almost upon us.

I think that Enoch Burke should be restored to the status quo ante. He is obviously a conscientious person and I am sure he will relate to the pupil in question in a professional way.

It seems to me that Enoch's rights as a teacher were trampled upon by the school authorities. Subsequent legal proceedings took on the appearance of the laws of the jungle. There is a distinct question mark in my humble mind about the way a succession of judges handled the case. I think it is incontrovertible that the teacher suffered abuse. So a question of compensation arises. Mr Burke's family should be considered too in this regard.
