Good idea about the bin lids but they are hard to find in Dublin now with the introduction of wheelie bins. So thats the reason they were introduced - to stop old time bin lid protests.
As for our "beloved" leaders brother:
if he can't stand the heat get the fuck out of the kitchen

Pots and pans would be a good substitute for bin lids. They'd make plenty of noise anyway.
