The power outage in Spain and Portugal wasn't caused by extreme weather, but by an over-reliance on wind and solar. If the UK continues on its headlong path to Net Zero, we can expect similar failures.

Why do we fail to deport those whom we should deport? It's due in the end, says Dr David McGrogan, to an excess of pity. We are pitying ourselves into disorder and social decay. We need to be willing not to be nice.

Kinsale: Shave the Head to Save the Head

category cork | environment | press release author Thursday August 28, 2003 11:22author by Seán - Free the Old Head of Kinsale Report this post to the editors

Sponsored Head-Shave for Kinsale Head campaign

“SHAVE THE HEAD TO SAVE THE HEAD”

Another People’s Picnic will be held at the Old Head of Kinsale this Sunday (31st August) to highlight the campaign to restore public access to the historic headland.

This weekend’s event will feature a Sponsored Head and Face Shave to raise funds for the Free the Old Head Campaign.

Old Head activist Warren Pickles will have his ample head of hair and his beard shaved off outside the gates of the Old Head Golflinks to highlight the denial of right of way to the Old Head of Kinsale and to help to finance the ongoing campaign.

In addition the usual People’s Picnic will be held with a barbeque, music and many colourful flags and banners. People are invited to bring along their own picnic as well as musical instruments, etc. to add to the colourful and fun nature of the event.

The campaign will, of course, re-state its message that the Old Head of Kinsale has traditionally being enjoyed by people from all walks of life and all parts of Ireland and beyond and demand that it should be accessible by the general public.

As usual a special Free the Old Head bus will run from Cork City centre, leaving from outside Cork Opera House at 12.30pm. The event will kick off at the Old Head around 2.30pm.

Is he a local? That doesn't sound like a Cork name. I wonder how many local people actually give a toss about the OHK.

I know a guy who paid €1,350 for himself and 3 of his clients for a round of golf and dinner at the Old Head on a mid-week day, Tuesday. Thats €337.00 per person!!

The Old Head golf club stands as a classic example of profit & the rich elite ruling over people.

Ever read Brinsley McNamara Seánín? Well it shows that shoneens like yourself were always around. Once again the attempt to turn the Old Head issue into a locals versus blow-ins argument. Since locals are barred from the Old Head Golflinks anyone from that quarter, or supporting them is - well - in a large glasshouse when it comes to attacking the Free the Old Head. Free the Old Head Campaign is predominantly - more than 90% composed of Irish people, concerned about their right to enjoy the beauty of their own country.

Some non-Irish people - who have adopted this country as their home - are also very concerned that rich people have been able to buy part of our heritage and deny it to the nation.

Seánín - You Shoneen, get a life for yourself. Smell the coffee, breathe in the fresh air of this beautiful country and for once grow up and stop whingeing.

Yeah,thats a good point.

We could all go punk for a few months though.

Be a nice change and we would have better pest control.
