Further fascinating facts from Fianna Fail.

category national | politics / elections | opinion/analysis author Wednesday February 11, 2004 21:34author by John McDermott - R.F.F.P.(remove Fianna Fail Party) Report this post to the editors

.Fianna Fails unfettered corruption hurt the young, the old, the sick, and the handicapped.! This must be the agreed slogan for all opposition to the current Mafiosi in Leinster House.

While on the subject of taxis and tax- The corrupt political vote-buying, tactics of the Fianna Fail Party re taxi plates which led to the deregulation fiasco and consequent meagre compensation payout to widows, pensioners and many others who suffered is a scandel which merits another tribunal! a .Wheelchair accessible taxis have all but disappeared from Dublin since deregulation .In fact the Corporation has refunded the 18,000Euros which every driver paid them for his licence. For ten years hackneys were refused admission to bus lanes, even though they were shoring up the scandalous shortage of taxis,by providing a co

mpeting service(.just as M.O Leary of Ryanair does with Aer Lingus
The hackneys spent their days embroiled in traffic jams, while the taxis sailed by in the bus lanes. Why was this unjust situation allowed to continue for so long? For the answer another Tribunal is needed.
Observe men like Ivor Callely for instance,an erstwhile buddy of the great C.J.Haughey.;and a T.D.for Drumcondra and now a Minister Of State in The Department of the Old the Sick and the handicapped(Health,)This man now has the Much sought after "Car with the Star(Mercedes state vehicle)"How did he get it?and why?
Ironically his murky past association with Dublins Taxi Mafiosi-who for years ferried the old,(yes again)the sick and the handicapped to voting stations on election days, held their hands steady while they wrote "X" opposite his name, and advertised his candidacy all over Dublin from the rooftops(of their taxis);-lies at the heart of the reason why Dublins wheelchair accessible taxis are now as rare as a U.F.O. sighting
.Dubliners lacked a Taxi Service for more than a decade as ,many a wet and foot weary citizen will acknowledge. As far back as1996 Callely managed to persuade the City Council to overturn its own vote to create 200 new taxi licences. Learn too how Berties Comely Courtesan Mary Harney fell out with the "Soldiers"vote buying tactics among the Drumcondra Taxidrivers and simultaneously discovered "Electoral Gold"in the plush south city suburbs by ensuring that Grafton St.shoppers and Leeson St.clubbers would have ample Taxis waiting to ferry them home after a nights debauchery

.Many of the taxi brethren will grow old and sick and handicapped paying off big loans taken out to purchase- now worthless- Taxi Plates.Tough shit! Internecine warfare in Leinster House! Thats Politics,Michael.Pray ask Bertie and Mary why they dont tackle the wealthier cartels ?

Whats good for the (Taxi) Goose is good for the (Publican) Gander.Recently Bertie(of the notoriously bad memory) said his part -time T.D.s and Publicans were making too much money. Why is Ireland one of the last Countries in Europe where a licence to sell alcohol changes hands for millions of Euros?
At least none of the ruined Taxidrivers had off-shore or none resident bank accounts to fall back on.. Will Pee Wee Flynn lose his big Europension because he trousered the odd 50,000 pounds?.Mr Mc Dermott has paid his taxes. What about his pension(taxi plate) which is now worthless…The Fianna Fail Trolls are busy….maybe the electorate will have something to say next June!
