Ireland - the Island of Ireland.

Why, who, when determines to sell off our 'Jewel'. Who really benefits? Special deals reduced the price of rights in the recession torn 1980's......Who is thinking? Where is the Corporate and Ethical Responsibility?

Gardai pithed against locals.......too easy......men went to gaol.

Letter written to An Taoiseach and others Sunday February 13th 2005

Subject: Kevin asked me to pass this on to you and remind you of the consequences of this corporate vested interest.......

Still awaiting a response......from Minister Dempsey......Now the time is right to publish it on Indymedia.......for people to respond....

Dear Taoiseach

I am writing for the second time in a number of weeks. I did slightly expect a response for my last email, from you or Patricia.

I was listening to Live at Five today (1st September 2004).

Alright Taoiseach let's go. In the last few days I hear proposals that Shell are investigating a proposed idiotic plan of piping gas through North Mayo. I have learned this consortium consists of three companies (Shell, Stat Oil and Marathon Oil). Now Taoiseach, as an architect with a doctorate in science and mathematics please put some trust and interest in what I am about to tell you.

The objectors to this proposal will be the local residents of Bangor Erris in Belmullet. This also will consist of conservation groups, fishermen, environmentalists like myself and I hope every decent human being that has a passion for wildlife and the growth of same in this country. Taoiseach, we no longer talk of domestic environment - the change now is global. Even the bureaucrats in the UN have awoken - just look at what happened in England this year.

Now Taoiseach, let's look at the development of this proposal. Firstly, you are going to have a high pressure of raw gas coming on shore just three meters under peat bog and going for miles through the village of Ross Port, passed farming houses, through other villages to its onshore terminal and cleansing station at Ballinaboy Bridge. The sad thing is Taoiseach, there will have to be an adjoining pipeline from that terminal containing discharge pumped back out into an enclosed Broad Haven bay and this will have to include electric cables. This to me would surely raise fears as a mathematician and environmentalist for a potential explosion. If this development goes ahead, the explosion I mention could possibly cause fatalities among its close neighbours. This terminal will have to have some type of incinerator for the cleansing off the gas impurities. This will include heavy metals and toxins e.g. lead, nickel, magnesium, phosphorous; arsenic; and mercury. Taoiseach - that is some mixture which possibly could be pumped out to sea. In my humble research Taoiseach, this terminal will also have to contain a power plant to burn the unburnt, uncleansed gas through at least six chimneys that will have to be at least 175 ft. high.

We all in the past few years have been talking about Greenhouse Gases. Taoiseach, please read what I have to say. With no offence, I am giving you this advice free unlike the bureaucrats who would charge the tax payer min. Euros75,000.

Taoiseach, I will give two lines about this construction. This idiotic proposed terminal will have to be built in a bog and this will have to involve the digging up of at least 700,000 cubic meters of peat and that will have to go somewhere else. I will not bore you with science but note the word landslide. Don't forget Taoiseach you have visited this area last year with a similar problem.

My personal interest in this is in the marine ecology. If the toxic waste pumped from this terminal goes ahead, it will affect the stocks of salmon and crab which most of the local economy depends on. This area also has a very important number of Brent geese and other important population of gull and birds. Ironically, the statement made by Shell to the Department of the Marine is part of their idiotic process in gaining a license that there was no evidence that this bay was of any importance to Cetaceans (whales and dolphins). Taoiseach, I can assure you, as a person who was reared in the West of Ireland, the corporatists of Shell are wrong.

Taoiseach, in the last couple of years, friends of mine in Cambridge, Harvard, University of Texas will back me up. I would like to meet some of these people - head on - to get their moral perspective.

A UCC research team recorded over 210 sightings of whale and dolphin species plus sighting of two seal species and marine mammals such as basking sharks and sea turtle in Broadhaven Bay and off the North Mayo coast. Taoiseach, as it stands, in 2002, An Bord Pleanala denied planning permission to the onshore terminal in April 2003 after public hearings. Strange to say Taoiseach, a year later, in April 30th of this year, Mayo Co. Council approved planning permission for a revised plan. I would like to see it Taoiseach and read it and I will give you a free opinion along with my colleagues in England and across the Atlantic.

Taoiseach, I hope I haven't bored you but this is important to people like me and the more importantly the ordinary humble people of the West of Ireland who farm off small holdings and still depend on the few dollars from across the Ocean.

October 4th 2006........

As we speak the decent people of West Mayo fight against this Shell pipeline. 170 Gardai had all road blocked off at 3.30 a.m. this morning. Even Gerry Crowley TD could not penetrate the Gardai Ring of Steel to attend two sick people. It begs the question where is the outrage of every decent citizen on this island.

One young woman who suffered a serious astma attack was manhandled by Gardai. Some I believe, were her own neighbours but Shell are verry good at 'Divide and Conquer'.

Again I ask what is the lifeline of this gas and the detriment otothe people living there against this Corporate Greed. Probably about 12 - 15 years of gas supply but don't forget the destruction of wildlife.....this is a real tragedy.

Shell Oil are allegedly responsible for over 250 murders globally, who got in their way. Nigeria is a perfect example of this. I ask the question tonight - was there a member of Shell Oil with the Bailey Brothers in Bertie's tent in the Galway races. I am sure the conversation wasn't about Bertie 'You cuitie - where did you hide that Piggy Bank' because we could have hidden our 21 million with your 60,000 euros instead though we gave it as a mark of respect to the Revenue. Bullshit......and you all know that.

Just like Bertie's speech yesterday in the Dail with McDowrell, 'The traitor to Ethics and Accountability' sat beside Bertie like a poodle with no bark. As Joe Higgins said. Tanaiste.......You climb the poles in Ranelagh, shouting I'll be the watchdog and conscience of Fianna Fail and you sit there like an over fed poodle. Next May, I say to McDowell, go and be a decent poodle and next May, lift your leg on every pole in Ranelagh and do the decent thing and piss on Ethics and Accountability......

Now Back to Bertie yesterday. Shell and Bertie have a lot in Common - Corporatism. You may fool Hill 16 but he won't fool the people of West Mayo. He took money - end of story. Corrupt - yes. McDowell sits as a Minister for a heavy handed police state with two children beaten to death in Store Street and Clonmel. O yes, Fact. This in my opinion is the most corrupt Government in Europe and we all know Shell is deemed to be globally corrupt.

Before I go, let me remind you of just one thing. Bertie Ahern sent Dermot Ahern some years ago, with a Jack Russell, out to North Dublin to see if Ray Burke took any corrupt payments. He came back and said 'Clean bill of health'. Burke got prison and Ahern got Foreign Affairs. Am I dreaming all this - O by the way, the Jack Russell called Jack, was given to McDowell as a present fro Bertie, as a reward for passing the criteria for Ethics and accountability.

Bertie Soprano is alive and well and so is Shell. Bertie has booked 4 days in Leitrim in the House of De-Stress (run by the ex wife of Minister for Fun, Jim McDaid). Later he is going to Celia for a face lift. God Help us.. The God Father will be on from Holloween to Christmas - Would we ever wake up and stand by people who are fighting for the livlihood, health and culture in West Mayo.

Before I go - would someone please burn Bertie's tent at Halloween and the anorak and the piggy bank and the dodgy bank account that never existed.

to the President of the United States in 1855.
'The earth does not belong to man but He to the Earth.
Man has not woven the web of life...he is only a thread in it.
The air is something precious because all things share the same breath.
Animals .. Trees.. Man.
If all the animals disappeared, man would die of a great loneliness of spirit.

(To try to explain this to the people in Bertie's tent would be like trying to get a Gorilla to appreciate the Mona Lisa'
