offsite link Kneecap Should Play Glastonbury Thu Jun 26, 2025 15:00 | Laura Perrins
Of course Kneecap should play Glastonbury, says Laura Perrins. Yes, they're morons. But morons deserve free speech too. One member may be on trial, but only for a summary offence. As long as we don't have to listen.

Britain's benefits bill will rise by a further ?8 billion even if Keir Starmer defeats Labour rebels on his flagship welfare reforms, the IFS has warned. Not really a cut, then, more a slightly slower rise.

The treatment of one of our leading mathematicians over his evidence-based dissident views on climate and Covid would have Galileo spinning in his grave, says Tilak Doshi.

An empirical MIT study has found that ChatGPT and other similar AI systems erode students' capacity to read, write and think critically. This should be obvious, says Prof James Alexander, but we have been warned.

Whats our final bill

category dublin | politics / elections | opinion/analysis author Friday November 24, 2006 00:11author by Citizen - The taxpayers of Ireland Report this post to the editors

dont mind the fast lane, what about the swim lane?

As the supreme court finally settled the argument over the National Aquatic Centre, I am curious as to how much this cost me.

Campus Stadium Ireland indicate on their website that this takeover is in agreement with Dublin Waterworld Ltd. Information was scant enough and little was heard about how much it cost us taxpayers to re-possess our own property. I didn't hear any reference to costs etc, a detail usually highlighted by the media at every opportunity. Surely CSID did not battle all the way to the supreme court to agree to settle on lesser terms than awarded by the courts all the way through this case.
The Irish Times carried an article recently with regard to allegations of document removal being an issue in a labour dispute. Is there further costs coming as these allegations are investigated or is there an imminent tribunal in the pipe. 11miliion in Vat and four years of 2.8 million tax "avoidance" per annum, makes corruption payments in the moriarty tribunal pale almost into insignificance.
Is this egg too rotten to be cracked in the run up to an election. Has FF managed to apply damage limitation on bad publicity here just in time? All this money would sort out the problems of a lot of communities in war torn Dublin and Limerick suburbs. Maybe we spent too long looking at problems on the wrong side of the Snugborough road. 2.8 million would sort out a helluva lot of problems in Corduff's tortured community over the years. Anyway,... I would just like to know where my money went and do I need to borrow some more?
