Drimnagh Direct from Marble Arch

category dublin | bin tax / household tax / water tax | news report author Thursday December 07, 2006 12:15author by Paula Geraghtyauthor email mspgeraghy at yahoo dot ie Report this post to the editors

Activists in the Anti- Bin tax campaign gathered last Saturday for the weekly protest.
Bags were inside depot before activists got there.
Bags were inside depot before activists got there.

People gathered at the Marble Arch Pub and walked down to the Council Depot. Two officials were present, a reduction on previous weeks, while the Gardai kept a distance driving up and down along the Luas tracks in a squad car. As always, the spirit was jovial, with more locals from Ballyfermot showing support.

Some bags remained at the end at the depot and the two council officials removed them.

Fingal County Council informed householders in my area, by way of leaflets, that Bin Tax's are set to rise to €8 as of the 1st of January. Living in an area that didnt really last very long during the whole dont buy a Bin Tag thing a few years back. i see this as an oppourtunity to get people once again to refuse to buy Bin Tag's just like the people in Ballyfermot are doing. whats the best way to go about this and are you allowed to throw your own rubbish into bin lorries still? Doing away with the need to buy a Tag.
Any info would be much appreciated.
