Meath County Council have succeeded in their duty of care. What exactly is Mayo County Council s thoughts on Shell's criteria on site selection which were used in identifying the optimum terminal site -
(1) MINIMISE THE DISTANCE FROM LANDFALL TO TERMINAL.!!!!!!!!
(2)KEEP VISUAL IMPACT TO A MINIMUM,
(3) AVOID ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE AREAS SUCH AS SPECIAL AREAS OF CONSERVATION (SACs) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs)
Just asking.
Why haven't we heard about this in the national press or have we?
I'm afraid you must inform yourself.
You need very informed journalists who can spend a lot of time scrutinising planning applications, and in the future it will only become more difficult when the SIB(Strategic Infrastructural Bill) covers planning of hazardous installations. This Act will rush through developments which can result in harm to the public, without time to investigate EIS reports, health effects, geology, flooding etc. - you will get a short period to gather information, with the advantage given to large corporations, vested interests, you being part of the "common good" get lowered to the "Common Bad" with no voice, unless you exist within a credible organisation that has existed for one year.
If freedom of information means anything, this Act must be challenged constitutionally.
