Mayday table quiz in aid of Joe Higgins' election fund

category galway | worker & community struggles and protests | event notice author Thursday April 26, 2007 11:36author by Socialist Party, Galwayauthor email d.byrne2 at nuigalway dot ieauthor phone 086 0726821 Report this post to the editors

Monroe's bar, Dominic street, Galway, at 8pm 1st May

The Socialist party in Galway are hosting a table quiz to raisew funds for the election campain of Joe Higgins, sitting Socialist party TD for Dublin West, and tireless campaigner for ordinary working people.

Joe Higgins has a long and proud record of workers' representation. He has recently been heavily involved with numerous struggles waged by ordinary people against the establishment, serving time in prison for his defence of working class communities in the face of double taxation at the height of the Bin Tax struggle. He is also a well known supporter of Shell to Sea, and an outspoken opponent of the use of Shannon airport by US imperialism. Without a representative of Joe's calibre, the issue of the brutal super-exploitation of the Turkish GAMA workers might never have been brought to public attention, leading to their successful struggle and widespread support.

As a representative of working people, Joe accepts only the average wage of an industrial worker, the rest of his TD salary going into the Socialist party and commnity campaigns. `

On Mayday, a day with a long history of workers' struggle, come along and lend your support to the only representative of working class people in Irish politics.

Tables cost 25 euro (up to 5 people per table)
