Apropos of nothing at all, I need to ask a question. I actually asked this on another thread last night but haven't been back since, so don't

know if it's been answered or not. Is it true that up to a hundred workers have been let go from the Ballinaboy site? This seems unlikely

at a time when they've bought the allegiance of 59 gobshite-ridden local ' community groups' for figures ranging from €1000 to €10000.

Can anybody substantiate this claim or otherwise?

Slan beo says the greens cant stop this NOONE in Leinster House can or will, when will people wake up and see that the very function of that body is to work CONTRARY to the intrests of the Irish people. It was set up to sunvery the wil of the Irish people. We can never circle a square. FF, the greens, the provos, whoever. No one can or will. Only a set up where people themselves run the affairs of the nation, Bring power out of the fat cats and criminals of Leinster House and bring it into every province, region, county and every community. Only EIRE NUA can enable the people to do that.

Below is an extract from the socialist blog "Splintered Sunrise"

"..it’s Éire Nua, just when you thought it was safe to read a socialist blog. You’d tried so hard to forget it, hadn’t you? You thought that this was something that only Ó Brádaighite dogmatists cared about, and if those guys wanted to discuss theology in a smoke-filled room you could pretend it didn’t exist. But, begging your indulgence, I intend to reflect a bit here on the question of federalism and decentralisation, and how this might fit into the elaboration of a revolutionary programme in today’s Ireland.

.....a genuine popular movement in the West – the Cearta Sibhialta movement in Conamara springs to mind – would find itself open to republican proposals for radical decentralisation. Leaping forward to the present day, and even without talking in terms of socialist revolution, there is a reasonable possibility that a Dáil Chonnacht would have handled the Rossport fiasco better than the Dublin kleptocracy. To make sure of that, of course, you would require a serious overhaul of the Irish social and economic system"

The well known organization was Belmullet GAA who received the monies to develop the new pitch at Tallagh belmullet,
Also a number of students have been awarded (and gladly accepted) scholarships, and a commitment of future long-term employment at the refinery.(should they graduate with the Necessary qualifications)
In total over 100 groups have now benefited from funding from Shell E&P Ireland, these range from small groups of farmers to the GAA and many others.
some have received as little as €1000 while other larger groups have received five figure sums

I heard it is a well known organisation in Erris, and there are many more. Shell also supports the Humber school in Ballina, see literature for this week's event, addressed by Calleary TD,and James Laffey of the Western People. I also hear that Shell are going to supply free books to each pupil in Erris when schools reopen, at present only those on HSE grants or Welfare get them

In a review of 2006 I seem to recall K. Myers wishing that increased police brutality be brought to bear
on the Rossport protesters - [RTE Dec. 2006].
As such Mr. Myers can now add his name to those in Irish society who
support violence as a means of resolution.

He is, by his own words, A MAN OF VIOLENCE.

Stand up Kevin Myers!

author by JMpublication date Tue Aug 07, 2007 20:07author address Rossportauthor phone Report this post to the editors

The abovementioned Brendan Cafferty is well known in these parts for a number of reasons (some of which which will not be dwelt on here) most notably as secretary of the Mayo Pro Gas Group (formally discredited PEGG) who shamelessly brown-nose Shell through every media outlet possible. He is also a former member of An Garda Siochana.

Mr Cafferty has been at the forefront of a protracted and nasty campaign aimed at demonising local opposition to the current Corrib project, and the words of MPGG consistently mimic those of Andy Pyle ($hell), Terry Nolan ($hell), Kevin Myers (Irish Independent "newspaper") Noel Dempsey (fomer Natural Resources minister) and recently Eamon Ryan (current minister).

Words of incitement from Myers and co. is not surprising at all. It is a pity they show, through their vitriol towards others, such a lack of respect for themselves.

Letter in today's paper

"Hats off to Kevin Myers on his timely article ("Protesters should be sent to sea", Irish Independent, August 3) on the ongoing Shell to Sea campaign "boil" which urgently needs to be lanced.

Any democratic society allows, indeed needs, peaceful protest, but what we have witnessed here is a campaign by a small number of people intent on disrupting this project through dirty tactics – down to even trying to boycott much-needed scholarships sponsored by Shell for deserving third-level pupils in the Erris region.

The people have spoken in the recent general and, indeed, the Seanad election. Why then do those people cost us, the taxpayers, millions in having a Garda presence in the area merely to uphold the law of the land and deal with matters far removed from lawful protest?

BRENDAN CAFFERTY,

BALLINA, CO MAYO"

He probably works for Shell...him and the Independent. Fuppin baxtards.
