Transgender women are to be banned from playing women?s football in England following the Supreme Court ruling that trans women are legally men, as the FA follows its Scottish counterpart in bringing in a ban.

The media are wrong to pin the blame for the Canadian Conservatives' loss on Trump, says Prof James Allan. In truth, the Tories' vote was sky high ? but the Left-wing vote coalesced around Carney.

Kneecap's vocal support for Hamas and call for fans to murder Tory MPs is obviously reprehensible. But it's just for show, says Andrew Doyle. The police shouldn't waste their time investigating rappers.

GMB's best ballot response

category national | worker & community struggles and protests | opinion/analysis author Tuesday November 06, 2007 13:32author by solidarity seeker Report this post to the editors

GMB have had the best response ever to their ballot on the classroom assistants dispute. This may seem to be a possitive thing. However some important questions need to be answered and if anyone from the GMB read this I would love to hear their replies.
1) How many classroom assistants do you represent?
2) Why were ballot papers sent to cleaners, and caretakers?

Could anyone from GMB give us a figure on the number of CA's in GMB. And also answer why ballot papers were sent and presumably filled in by groups of workers who had no right to do so. Now far be it for me to be cynical, but if I was cynical I might get the impression that GMB were doing their best to inflate the number of ballot papers sent out and returned so they could pretend to me a little bit more important than they really are.
It's also a shame that the GMB didn't feel the need to ballot their members on the below inflation pay offer to all NJC affected workers.
