Jump To Comment: 2 1Anyone interested in looking at the idea of carbon rationing - for individuals - where everyone has an equal carbon ration - rich and poor - first world and third world - have a look at George Monbiot's book 'Heat'. I find it a very compelling idea.
I don't think it's possible or necessary to end capitalism in order to slow down climate change; all that needs to be done is institute a carbon ration on the national level and a contraction and convergence scheme on the international level.
More realistic, equally effective (probably more so).
I don't see how socialism is any guarantee of sustainability.
