ISIS bride Shamima Begum and other Britons in Syrian camps should be allowed back into the UK on human rights grounds and because many will come back illegally anyway, an independent review has found.

COP30 is the Definition of Insanity Thu Nov 13, 2025 07:00 | Paul Homewood
What's the point of COP30? Every year thousands fly in to proclaim the urgent need to cut CO2 emissions. And every year global emissions go up. It's the definition of insanity, says Paul Homewood.

Saturday 12 January.
Easily overlooked, because it's in paler, grey-green fonts.

By the way, in case the description does not make it clear, I should advise that this show is not suitable for small children. If my stories were movies, very few of them would be given a "G" or "PG" rating by the Irish Film Censor's Office, as they would not comply with the criteria, as described here:
http://www.ifco.ie/IFCO/ifcoweb.nsf/web/classcatintro?o...aphic
e.g. "The film should not be concerned with serious or moral issues which might confuse or disturb a young child."
Almost all of them would breach this criterion, and some of them might possibly breach all of the other criteria for G or PG ratings.
Best,
Coilín.
Once again, the Library Bar Extension was sold out for an evening of live storytelling entertainment at the Narrative Arts Club. A handful of people decided to come back after the interval, when a few seats came available, but there were still people sitting on the floor for the second half. Suggestions for a venue that has just as much inherited atmosphere but about twice as much space would be very welcome!
Here is a report from an enthusiastic member of the audience:
Feeding the Demons- A Night of Storytelling with the O-Aissieux
http://www.indymedia.ie/article/85771
These were the stories I actually told, on prompting by the audience:
First part:
Starters:
Meet the Molbos
The shaman and the Bolsheviks
Main Course:
Trolls-in-law
Spicy side dishes:
Shrimp husband
Fish soup
Dessert:
The bumblebee
Second part:
Starters:
Mushroom soup
Sux races
Main course:
Mr Silver and Miss Crozier
Dessert:
Sindbad's first and second voyages
(The way I told this merged the two voyages into one. I'd like to disentangle them and continue with the remaining voyages some other time.)
I was particularly pleased to be asked to resurrect Miss Crozier for the occasion. Some stories simply refuse to lie down and die!
Please do contact me if you are interested in attending a storytelling workshop and/or participating in the club.
Best,
Coilín.
