Oppose British Royal Visits

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Tuesday March 18, 2008 09:03author by éirígíauthor email press at eirigi dot org Report this post to the editors

Windsor not Welcome

This Thursday (March 20), the commander-in-chief of Britain's armed forces will be paraded through Armagh city in yet another attempt to normalise the British occupation of Ireland's north-east.

éirígí will be opposing the imperialist coat-trailing exercise and are appealing for people to gather in Armagh to demonstrate their continued opposition to British rule in Ireland.
Inextricably Linked
Inextricably Linked

éirígí chairperson Brian Leeson gave the reasoning for Thursday's planned protest: “By publicly announcing in advance a visit by Elizabeth Windsor to the Six Counties for the first time in nearly half a century, the British establishment is clearly signalling that the normalisation process is all but complete. In their view, the Six Counties is as British as Finchley and their monarch can visit at will.”

Brian continued: “éirígí won’t allow such a propaganda exercise to go unopposed. While her forces of occupation remain in Ireland, Elizabeth Windsor is not welcome in Ireland.

“We are calling on all republicans, socialists and democrats to join us in Armagh city on March 20 and resist the normalisation of British rule in this country.”

éirígí is calling on people to assemble at Irish Street in Armagh City on Thursday, March 20 from 9am onwards. Make it loud, make it colourful and give Britain the message, “No withdrawal? No royal visits!”

Well, I am Irish, and as far as I am concerned the Queen is very welcome as a head of state. On the other hand, the mad militarists of dissident Republicanism are not.

I'm by no means a prude, but does it really represent the éirígí group in a positive light when an image of exposed genitalia accompanies a press release? Seems a bit amateur to me.

Just my opinion.

Mrs Windsor's visit to the occupied 6 counties is not laughing matter.
How the hell do you expect people to take you seriously if this is the kind of rubbish you come up with?
This merely serves to cheapen the proper work done by people who want to liberate the occupied 6 counties and bring about a United Ireland.

Pat is right. This is a very serious matter indeed - I'm fit to explode with rage tonight at the antics of our so-called 'President'!!!

I am disgusted that our so-called 'President' of Ireland has invited that imperialist bitch to Dublin . McAleese does not deserve the title of 'President' of Ireland - as no decent Irish citizen would contemplate offering such an invitation whilst the British Monarch claims six of our counties (yes, we have another 'thundering disgrace' of a President!).

Everyone must be on the alert and be prepared to counter-attack this inviitation by our deluded 'President' to the British Monarch, which is an attack and on insult to all Irish nationalists and republicans who wish to be part of a united Ireland - as this British Monarch claims jurisdiction over our six counties and has no fucking intention of coming here in the future to hand them back ever!

To make matters even worse, RTÉ have put up a poll on their web site - could people please go there and vote NO to the British Queen's visit for fuck's sake - as I'm absolutely disgusted with the state of the poll so far!

Could someone post a link for the RTE poll on a British Queen visit to the 26 CO's mentioned above?

Just paste this url into your browser and it will bring you to the RTE News site where you will locate the poll on the right hand side - then just click on the NO button please for Ireland's sake.

is the question Jacqueline. Not "do you approve of a visit by the British Queen to the Republic?" nor even "would you welcome a visit by the British Queen to the Republic?"

Since you got upset, & whoever wants to follow the interpretation go & vote rte.ie/news the proportion of people who quite realistically do not think they would have a hope in Hell of welcoming the British Queen to the Republic is rising. Coz let's face it, that task (of welcoming the British Queen anywhere outside of her country) is normally done by heads of state or prime ministers at least. It will be Mary Mc Aleese or Bertie Ahern who welcomes her. Maybe if Dana had won the presidency it woud be her with a fistfull of wild flowers. But it will not be you, it will not be anyone who has time to go to http://www.rte.ie/news and vote (in true Irish style) on an opinion poll which is worded in an utterly misleading way.

What gets me is at time of writing the comment there are over 1020 delluded types who think they'd get within a yard of her let alone paw her shapeshifting white gloved tendrils. Watch this instead, it's the full episode of South Park where the Scientologists realise Stan is the reincarnation of L. Ron Hubbard and Tom Cruise hides in the closet and refuses to come out. "come out Tom Cruise", "why won't you come out!"......... "go on sue me"......"you're so sued kid". Honestly It will calm you down & help you feel better & best thing - it's free. http://jumpcut.com/view/?id=53CBC094D74511DBAD66000423C...F4092

I have to agree totally with 'Lyncher', peaceful protests (and I've been to many peaceful protests) do not have much impact at all with the imperialist British and are a complete waste of fucking time - the British only heed and understand non-peaceful actions/people. I sincerely wish it were otherwise, but the stark reality is the British have always ignored peaceful people and their protests and trampled arrogantly all over them, that has always been their modus operandi down through the ages all over the world.

If the 'President of Ireland' invites the British Queen, who claims six of her counties, to Dublin - she will ignite a ferocious hatred in those decent Irish people who will rise up against such an offensive visit and serious trouble will inevitably ensue.

Wise up Jacqueline Fallon.
The majority of Irish people couldn't give a fuck if the English queen came or not.
As for all this decent people rise up horseshit, are you taking the piss or are you actually stupid enough to believe it will happen?
The most that will happen is that a handful of RSF will stand around with their banners and plackards and shout slogans. The majority of what would be classed as "decent" Irish people will stand and wave and smile.
As for this sudden insurgency where you think people rise up and revolt....well write a book about it cos you seem to have a very vivid imagination.

In my royal opinion Her Majesty is welcome so long as she pays a flying visit (helicopter?) to the Hill of Tara and lays a wreath in memory of the ancient high kings. If a royal attendant plays a few bars of the harp so much the better.

author by Jacqueline Fallonpublication date Thu Apr 10, 2008 22:15author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Yes, wise up Des,

If your mythical 'majority' would not give a fuck whether the British imperialist Queen visits or not, then they would hardly bother to turn up to stand, wave and smile at her now would they? Or are you, Des, actually stupid enough to believe that could happen? How many turned up to greet her husband - fucking nobody - I know, I was at the protest.

I predict a handful of cringeworthy and embarrassing snobby D4 types (like that 'Burberry clad woman' who verbally attacked me at the other protest), will pathetically grovel, bow and smile, and a significantly large proportion of decent Irish people from all 4 provinces (not solely members of Sinn Féin Poblachtach) will vigorously protest using a variety of means and, yes, the balance of the people will consist of those who just could not be bothered and they'll stay at home and watch/play sport, go shopping, go to the pub, and carry on regardless.

You alone, Des, will apparently be standing, waving and smiling at her, you fool!
