Anthony Mcintyre denied entry to U.S.

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | other press author Saturday September 06, 2008 22:00author by Pagan O'Leary Report this post to the editors

Anthony McIntyre, author of 'Good Friday: the death of Irish repubicanism' has been refused permission to travel to the U.S to promote the book.

Mcintyre, a longtime critic of the Adams/McGuinness departure in the provisional republicanism spent 18 years in prison. He has also criticized the futility of the various dissident groups.

New York (PRWEB) August 18, 2008 -- Anthony McIntyre's first book was released this week by Ausubo Press, a New York publisher. But according to its Marketing and Publicity Director, William Cadiz, they had no idea a simple book launch or a book tour in the states was not possible for the Irishman's book Good Friday: The Death of Irish Republicanism. Visa requests have been repeatedly denied according to his wife Carrie Twomey, editor of the e-zine The Blanket. "When I go home (to the United States) I go for a month at a time because the visits are so infrequent." -

In his blog Mcintyre has never mentioned the refusal of the U.S. to give him a visa. Maybe he believes its not that important.

The last time Ruairí Ó Bradaigh tried to enter the US, for a hunger strike commemoration two years ago, Conor Murphy and Barry McElduff were also planning to go over for similar events (though obviously not the same one). All three were refused visas.

Republican Sinn Fein broke with the provisionals over politics, when the provos abandoned fundamental Republican principles. the war was in full swing. All other breaks were over 'war'

author by Skin the goatpublication date Thu Sep 11, 2008 22:58author address author phone Report this post to the editors

“The major question historians will ask is not why the republicans surrendered, but why they fought such a futile long war,” he writes. “It has not been unconditional surrender. And it has been infinitely better than continuing to fight a futile war for the sake of honouring Ireland’s dead, yet producing only more of them. "-Anthony Mcintyre.

Here McIntyre is clearly stating that Adams and McGuinness did not unconditionally surrender and that ending the futile war was 'infinitely better' than continuing the fight.

So those who advocate continuing the 'futile long war', such as Republican Sinn Fein and the Real IRA, are according to McIntyre's analysis, politically bankrupt. Yet these 'dissidents' illogically cite McIntyre to bolster their position.

Might be worth pointing out Anthonys partner is an American citizen- Its his Irish republican politics end of story

Not true, Former prisoners who are against Republicanism and fully supportive of Adams are let in. Many have done speaking tours thru out the states to promote collaboration/provisionalism/british rule. Those who stand for Irish freedom not permittted in.

Most ex-prisoners can't get into the US, whether they support Sinn Féin or not. McIntyre was well aware of this, but was able to get some publicity for his book out of it anyway.

You're exactly right, banty . Its for the same reason R. O"Bradiagh hasnt been let into the states in decades. He was and remains an effective spokesperson for Republicanism and uncompromisingly so

. He along with other spokespersons for EIre Nua are denied entry simply due to the fact that their irish formula (as opposssed the british gfa/etc) does not stand for continued British occupation, something that men and women of no character (provos) have no problem with as long as the price is right..

Eire Nua would be in the intrests of teh irish people, not the Brits, not the Dublin Government, its time people found out miore about it. http://rsf.ie/eirenua.htm

There would have been no situation like Rossport or Tara had more knew and supported it beforehand.

It is interesting that Denis Donaldson and Rita O Hare for example were allowed to enter the usa to represent Sinn Feign even though they both had convictions- suppose they were of use to the us/British axis.

How useful? Well you have Martin mc Guinness urging the template of the Provisional surrender as a "way forward" in Iraq among other places and Gerry Adams playing a similar role in the Basque country.

Anthonys book is so intelligent in exposing the sham of the political process that has led to Stormont that it must be silenced.

Anthony does not do "strategic realignments" a la the provos -He tells the truth.
