éirígí is to mark the 27th anniversary of the ending of the 1981 Hunger Strike at 6pm on Friday, October 3rd, with a blackflag and candle lit vigil on Dublin's O'Connell Street Bridge.

Our Revenge Will Be The Liberation Of All

On October 3rd 1981, the republican Prisoners of War in the H-Blocks of Long Kesh called off a hunger strike which had focused international attention on the plight of the occupied population in the Six Counties.

Over the course of the harrowing and inspiring fast, 10 young working class republicans laid down their lives in defence of their comrades and the integrity of their struggle.

They were: Bobby Sands, Francis Hughes, Ray McCreesh, Patsy O'Hara, Joe McDonnell, Martin Hurson, Kevin Lynch, Kieran Doherty, Thomas McElwee and Mickey Devine.

On October 3rd 2008, éirígí will be marking the 27th anniversary of the hunger strike with a black flag and candle lit vigil on Dublin's O'Connell Bridge.

Honour the men of the H Blocks and the women of Armagh Jail with the same pride with which they defended our struggle.
