Shell2Sea : Maura Harrington and The Chief, Pat O'Donnell, Imperial Hotel, Eyre Square, Galway, 8PM

"In the abscence of political resolve and integrity"

What next for the Campaign, now that the new Corrib Gas Forum set up by Eamon Ryan and Éamon Ó Cuiv will not “revisit existing consents and permissions given to the project”?

What next, when "Governments around the world are waking up to the reality that natural resources are soveriegn assets and that it is entirely within the rights of the state to readjust taxation and royalty deals in times of windfall revenues or supply concerns" (Michael McCaughan, The Price of our Souls, Gas, Shell and ireland)
great_gas_giveaway.jpg

What now, when: "it comes to the price of the gas from the Corrib project, Irish people may as well be sourcing their supply from Kazhakstan as County Mayo as global gas rated will apply. This contrasts sharply with the contract negotiated for the Kinsale project in the 1970s that ensured a special price for gas supplied to Irish homes. The Corrib field thus offers no special advantage in either supply or price." (The Price of our Souls).

What next, when: "The fact that the key political decision-makers concerning oil and gas exploration have been taken to task for corruption and one of them jailed ... In the abscence of political resolve and integrity, it has fallen to a small group of locals in a remote corner of Ireland to raise the banner of energy dignity."(The Price of our Souls).

The meeting will be chaired by Michael McCaughan.

With respect, the name of the campaign is very precious -
Shell to Sea says it all.

Using forms like the text speak one above confuses people (and comes across as a bit desperate to be honest).

Use the name, it's very good and a lot of thought went into it.

"a bit desperate to be honest" : many thanks for this invaluable insight, "precious," for employing the numeral, 2, rather than the preposition, to, is indeed proof positive of the present, desperate parlous state of the Shell2Sea campaign, may I go the full monte and suggest it's terminal rather than desperate, for the choice of venue and the timing of the meeting are highly significant and have more than a whiff of desperation about them: why not Palookaville or Cloud-cuckoo-land rather than the Imperial Hotel?, why the choice of the witching hour of 8 o'clock rather than the more propitious and christian hour of 7 o'clock?. Your copromancy skills impress me.
