The Real Agenda of RTE

Biased coverage of the Public Sector

What a biased media rhetoric we really have in this country! The agenda of RTE has become apparent to anyone tuning in to so-called National Broadcaster that it serves to maintain the interests of the social order.

What a biased media rhetoric we really have in this country! The agenda of RTE has become apparent to anyone tuning in to so-called National Broadcaster that it serves to maintain the interests of the social order. In the last 24 hours alone we see some striking examples: on Q&A John Bowman cut off the only questioner to ask the reasonable question of why the ordainary public servant should have to pick up bill for the banks' crazy excesses. He was cut off by Bowman with the response "That's an interesting question and we'll come back to that later." He didn't come back to it later. The panel on Q&A didn't jump in field that question either - two TDs (one FF and one FG) and two right-wing financial 'experts' (although I'm reluctant to use that term in relation to Eddie Hobbs) were hardly keen to address the point. Pat Kenny's show this morning discussed how teachers hasd received a 40% pay increase in the last 5 years - I can assure you readers that we absolutely have not! My pay increases over the past five years amount to approximately 5% (plus an additional 9% in bench-marking). Mary Wilson, on Drive-time cut off Labour TD Roisin Shortall once she raised that same point. When are we going to acknowledge the elephant in the room? - THAT ORDINARY WORKERS, WHETHER PUBLICLY OR PRIVATELY EMPLOYED, DID NOT CREATE THIS MESS, AND AS SUCH SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL. I'm sure IBEC's Chief Executive is quite pleased with the situation this evening; his organisation has effectively gotten the green light to decimate the private sector by undermining pay and conditions in the public sector first. In short, the government has danced to this tune and RTE's broadcasting has helped them on their way.

Yeah, Its quite clear. The banks and neo-liberal governments failures have caused this crash. Now they want us to bail them out while a minority sits comfortably.
Its definitely the time for some radical action.... 'they' dont care about us, that's clear from our own rotten Green/FF government. Its time to stand up for ourselves!

I agree Clare and Newstalk with Eamon Keane is worse, however since we cough up an extra payment for RTE via the licence fee and its remit is to provide balanced coverage, we should be holding them to the standard they proclaim; of balanced objectivity in their coverage.

I have found that if enough people write to the Director General of RTE along with getting their elected TDs to do the same, re the lack of balance they, RTE, do feel a need to respond whether it be through shame or whatever. Shame is an emotion that should not be underestimated at certain times and in certain contexts, in terms of getting things achieved, I've seen it work a lot but I dont deny the level of what it is we are up against.

I have to agree with your postings thus far .

R.T.E. My foot . the same motor mouths are full of their own s..t ,and on our Money , paying a fee to listen to the likes of Finucane Ryan , Tubridy ,Kenny

and that moron Little who is a dogmatic little nerd at the best of times , constantly interrupting guests who are merely trying to be heard .

We must be thicks to put up with their arrogance towards any soul who might appear to know more than the likes of the aforementioned .
Their acting is written all over their faces and can be heard through their tone of voice when the Agenda from Upstairs in Montrose is even wobbled .

Gangsters in Mind and body and the contempt shown towards the people of Ireland is legendry in the License Bummers ''Training '' and make no
mistake of that . OH and by the way it really is All Our Fault as the likes of the above were already being trained to stir while the country was doing
well , So just sit back now and see for yourselves the Bully Boy / girl from Montrose doing their thing .

The Idiot who seems to believe he can pass remarks of a biological nature on his show and constantly butt in when a meagre unsuspecting caller fones in
flatly refuses to accept defeat and take a pay cut , well i have news for him, if he does not ,well then make him .
all very well we might say , is he still taking the country air or is he living in the basement of the 4 seasons , thats what it is ,he needs the money for
to keep up with the image he has of himself , wish to jazus i could have a look in his mirror .
one half of his face looks as he could just about murmer through the Hucklebuck while the other half should ask for his ( sorry our ) money back .

The Public Sector Unions are shocked and appalled by a pension provision...not a pay cut.

Going on strike against pension provisions which are THE NORM in those who real in the REAL economy are they?

The cushy Teachers and Nurses Unions might get a shock if they knew the askance which they are regarded by workers in the Private Sector.

Those Unions patently know nothing about the private sector or about the real economy.

Not one single word of concern for the 400,000 soon-to-be-unemployed have I heard from the Cushy Unions.

NOT ONE OF THOSE UNEMPLOYED WILL COME FROM THE PUBLIC SECTOR.

Until the economy completely topples over.................... and the IMF moves in to sort us out that is.
