news report
Wednesday February 11, 2009 20:05 by Niall Smyth - INTO
This evening, Wednesday 11th February, a packed emergency meeting attended by 500 members of Dublin City North Branch of the INTO, held in the Regency Hotel, unanimously passed a resolution calling for a strong campaign of united industrial action across the public service. Never before in living memory has such anger, unity of purpose and unanimity been seen at a Dublin City North Branch meeting. Teachers present expressed anger and outrage at the manner in which the public service have been targeted in an attempt by government to scapegoat workers for the financial crisis which they did not create. |

The teachers, gardai, nurses and other essential people in the fabric of this country should go up to Dail Eireann and demand the heads of the bankers and the politicians who got us into this mess. They should stay up there until these shameless traitors to our country come out of government and positions of power with their heads hanging in shame. I am a parent of a school going kid and I have absolutely no objection to teachers making their voices heard in this way. How dare our government hit the most important people in our country -our educators, our protectors and our healthcare professionals, while giving the likes of Pat Neary golden handshakes. Enough is enough!!!
Right on Floatingingalway. Action is needed.

All welcome
your right they should stay up there. agree totally, it's not enough to lead the people on to the streets have a few speahes and then go home again. in mexico they'd set up a camp out side the parliment or in a major public space. but ireland isn't ready for that yet, socialist worker divided by socialist member, anarchist by communist, shinner by eirigi, labour by trade unionist, spititualist by secularist, public worker by non public worker, paye payer by social welfare racipient. etc etc etc theres such amazining good will by everyone but still not enough maturity.
