The Union of Students in Ireland will hold a succession of protests on college campuses around the south of Ireland as part of its campaign against the reintroduction of fees. Hundreds of students, representing their individual colleges, will come out to voice their opposition to the reintroduction of fees at each event. |

Any reason advanced for this decision?
The planned protests were called off because the programme for government included a pledge not to introduce fees.
And you BELIEVE them?
No, I'm not involved with USI. You'd have to ask them.
The government will hike the registration fee, rely on links with the private sector for funding, merge institutions with job losses (rationalisation), use public-private partnerships, attack the current levels of pay & terms of employment of staff, while the local colleges will introduce new charges for things like healthcare or degree conferral.
