Silence on darfur negotiations![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The janjaweed are recognised The rejoicing at the release of Sharon Commins and Hilda Kawuki must be tempered with the behind scenes in negotiations with war criminals There is irrefutable proof that the Janjaweed , a proxy army funded and supported by the Sudanese Government, is responsible for the continuing genocide , rape and murder of the people of Darfur. Mary Fitzgerald has pointed out in her report in the Irish Times (Oct 24 and 25 ) that its commander, Mr Hilal , was personally asked by the Sudanese president al-Bashir, already cited by the International Criminal Court for war crimes in Darfur, to be the main negotiator for the release of Goal aid workers , Mary Commins and Hilda Kawuki. |
