On Saturday 5 December 2009, just ahead of the crucial UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen, thousands of people from all walks of life will flood the streets of Dublin to demonstrate their support for a fair and safe climate future for all. We want the Irish Government to show leadership at Copenhagen. We want them to PROTECT THE POOREST and ACT NOW to inspire the deal the world needs. |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3I think the previous poster was being sarcastic as to the nature of the so called green party we have in government.
Waving or wearing a blue jumper will not influence the powerful. All they care about is power and money.
They'll do fuck all whilst still supporting climate denier research and "hacking" efforts which muddy the water so their rich corporate friends can keep polluting profitably. The only thing that will get them interested is if they can profit further by imposing new kinds of taxes on their slaves ..er...citizens and also use the situation to increase their powers and their stranglehold on their slaves..er...citizens and enable them to control more firmly any natural resources within their sphere of influence.
World leaders are a bunch of sociopathic bastards. There isn't one of them who gives a shit. We're all screwed
if only the Green Party had 84 TDs...The point I was trying to make is that if the Green Party had a majority in the Dail that they could implement all of their policies. They have 6 TDs out of 166. They are in a coalition which involves inevitable compromises. I hope that FG (and maybe Labour, if they are needed to make up a majority) will push the environmental agenda in the next government.
Yeah, because Labour, and the leaders of Labour when they were in Workers Party, were always so strong on the environment weren't they? Do you remember that time Eamon Gilmore got arrested over the proposal to build and Oil Refinery in Dublin Bay? Or Pat Rabbitte making an impassioned speech about the imprisonment of the Rossport Five? No?
Oh yeah that's right- the Labour Party has always been in favour of "progress" at the expense of the environment hasn't it?
Fine Gael is just Fianna Fáil with table manners- the Business Party.
