news report
Sunday November 15, 2009 00:45 by TD - Free Palestine Campaign
The PA leaders "are whores. Our leadership is garbage." Symbol of the resistance and intifada and leader of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades the formidable but affable and thoughtful Zakaria Zubeidi readily agreed to be interviewed on the 12th November at Jenin's Freedom Theatre. Not for him the hypocrisy of paying lip service to the PA Quisling regime in Ramallah but forthright condemnation and contempt: In June 2004, he kidnapped the corrupt Israeli collaborator, then PA governor of Jenin, Haidar Irshard to "beat the shit out of him." . He also burnt down the local office of the Palestinian Legislative Council. Alleged by the Israelis to be the chief strategist of suicide bombing he was ruthlessly hunted for extermination - in one botched attempt, in 2004, an Israeli death squad killed five other brigade members, including a 14-year old boy, in a jeep carrying him, in another, nine Palestinians were killed in Jenin including four civililians on a IOF murder expedition. However, in July 2004 he accepted Israeli amnesty (or partial amnesty as it turned out) and now, for the time being, he confines his activities to cultural struggle through the Freedom Theatre. Arranged through the good offices of the head of Bil'in's Popular Committee, Iyad Burnat, two other internationals also based in Bil'in accompanied us to Jenin where another formidable resistance fighter, Walid Masharka ferried us to the Freedom Theatre - Walid lost three brothers fighting the IOF and spent 11 years in Israeli jails for his refusal to be crushed in the Israeli occupation juggernaut. Once one of Israeli human rights activist Arna Mer-Khamis's troupe of child actors, Zakaria Zubeidi was warmly and mischievously greeted there by her son, Juliano, who directed the award winning documentary, Arna's Children as the "black terrorist."

Jump To Comment: 4 3 2 1Given that the current PA/Israeli 'Status Quo' is so sickeningly corrupted by it's very obvious role as a outright proxy of Israeli/US/Zio-con anti-Palestiian elements, and given that the 'western media' seems to willingly march in lock-step with the propaganda put out by those same Israeli/US/Zio-con anti-Palestiian elements: having 'divisive views', rather than being seen as some sort of liability, as the previous poster seems to suggests, should in fact be considered to be an indiction of mental health.
Since the current 'western' consensus is so very obviously not about achieving anything even remotely resembling 'peace' or even 'justice' for the Palesinian side, and is so very obviously weighted in favour of facilitating the further illegal expansion of the Zionist colonisation/missappropriation/stealing (delete as appropriate) of Palestinian lands, anyone NOT having divisive views at this moment in time is in effect supporting the current 'consensus', a thouroughly disredited process, totally in the control of racist and imperialist israeli/US Zio-con interests
Interesting interview, though it might have been better if the interviewer didn't keep telling the interviewee what he supposedly thinks. Seems at times as if the interviewer is looking for his subject to simply endorse his own views, which are fairly divisive.

Only mockeries at the memorial to the murdered Bassem Abu Rahmah. Only the shrill, demented choirs of wailing tear gas canisters
Last Friday's protest - now in its fifth year - was notable for the presence of 6 San Franciscan activists, friends of Tristan Anderson who was critically injured on 13 March 2009 when he was deliberately shot with a high velocity tear-gas projectile during a peaceful demonstration against the Apartheid Wall in the West Bank village of Ni'lin (report and video: palsolidarity.org/2009/03/5324). Two of whom were detained in a military prison for refusing to be deployed to Iraq of which one, Matt was starved, beaten, deprived of sleep, had his right hip broken and then denied medical attention before being discharged from service. The protest was also graced with the presence of a number of Shministim; Israelis on point of conscience who refuse to be drafted into the IOF/IDF and two members of the Knesset; Mohammad Barakeh and Dov Khenin of the communist-socialist political party, Hadash. There was one injury and several cases of severe distress due to tear gas inhalation.
