Sinn Féin workers in Leinster House took a principled decision not to pass the picket lines during yesterday's industrial action. The staff, including elected representatives, said it would be hypocritical to argue in support of the workers on strike while passing the CPSU pickets. They have offered nothing and will offer nothing to people in need.
Their only ambition is to slag off those who are out doing things. They will join any discussion to achieve that.
Sad what they have become.
Really sad.
Sinn Fein give us words, no genuine effort. The masters at political games and gimmics. They have offered nothing and will offer nothing to people in need. Their ambition is to get into government and they will join any coalition to achieve that. Sad what they have become. A Sinn Fein policy document on finance would give Tommy Tiernan enough material for a live comedy show.
That could be said of all the political parties, except that Sinn Fein actually didn't pass the picket. Obviously, you won't be happy until there is a time machine to take you back to these halcyon days of republicans of the past, but for some of us there is a principle here, now, in fighting these cuts.
Maybe you could mobilise others in your quest for the return of the old days when the jails were full and the British army was on the streets, or maybe you can stay on your own and criticize things on the internet, passing judgment on the efforts of those who do things. Whatever you chose, try to develop a sense of generosity towards others on the left/republican side of the street. Constant sniping only helps those who want nothing at all to happen.
The truth is that they didn't pass the picket. That seems like a principle being honoured. Not enough for some people, sadly.
Sinn Fein could return to republican principles and replace their discredited leadership plus the truth would help.
Is there anything, anything at all, that Sinn Fein could do that you wouldn't slag off? Cross picket lines, not cross pickets, enter government, not enter government, deal with the media, not deal with the media, get their ears pierced, anything?
Or is it going the same old same old for ever and ever?
What makes no sense is knocking the Labour party for going into coalition with "right wing Fine Gael" while the politically unprincipled Shinners serve in a British coalition undemocratic government with "right wing DUP" in this country. Simple fact. Not passing the picket line is a publicity stunt with all press photographers in place. Same old shinners.
Is this article about the six counties? I suppose we have to hear a mantra recited about power sharing (what's the alternative- back to war?) every time SF does anything, good or bad.
Imagine if they had passed the pickets, but it would have been the same, back to the future with the armchair critic crowd, six counties , DUP, blah blah blah... SF are always bad...
Sinn Fein are part of the solution, fighting against the ones who implementing the cuts.
Not in the Six Counties at any rate.
The authentic voice of the left- are you having a laugh or are your tablets kicking in. What would SF know about "left" politics. SF promote and encourage the politics of SF. Are they not the party in comfortable partnership with the extreme right wing DUP? yeah you are having a laugh and at all our expence.
Soldiers manning the front gates of leinster house? - obviusly if there is ever a coup in Dublin, a strike day is the one to pick (though maybe there was a coup years ago and we never heard about it...)
Shame on the other parties, particularly the Labour Party who purport to support workers rights, for crossing this picket line, Sinn Fein are becoming the authentic voice of the left in the Dail as the Labour party continues to move to the centre and moves closer to establishment interests in advance of its anticipated entry into government with right wing Fine Gael after the next General Election.
It is good to see this, and heartening. Sinn Fein are part of the solution, fighting against the ones who implementing the cuts.
Its insane to see this, and annoying. Trying to keep face.
Sinn Fein are apart of the problem now. There is no solidarity with the workers, when you are the ones implementing the cuts
