Hamas Troops Kill Two Invading Israelis

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Friday March 26, 2010 18:50author by pat c Report this post to the editors

Hamas troops resisted an incursion by Israeli soldiers in Gaza today. Two Israeli soldiers including an officer were killed in the defensive actiuon by Hamas. Two other Israeli soldiers were wounded.

The brave Israeli soldiers succeeded in woulding a ten year old Palestinian boy.

Israeli sources have claimed that a regular military patrol had come under attack. But the question arises: what was it doing in Gaza?

The fighting took place east of the town of Khan Younis. Using tank shells and heavy machine guns the Israelis killed two Hamas troops.

Hamas' armed wing - the Al-Qassam Brigades - said that it had killed the two Israeli soldiers. Speaking to Reuters news agency, Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida is quoted as saying: "This was our work, but was carried out for defence."

More info to follow.

Nobody was denying that the Israeli soldiers were inside Gaza at the time they were killed. I think the distortion claims are about treating the entry of the Israeli soldiers into Gaza as the START of this incident. As if there was a routine Israeli patrol INSIDE Gaza and it got attacked.

Even the Palestinian sources aren't claiming that (Didn't you SEE the picture of the guys proudly displaying their anti-armor rockets?)

You mistake the nature of this successful ambush. It began with four resistance fighters pretending to place explosives at the fence near the crossing point and others firing anti-armor rockets at the (routine) patrol on the Israeli side. Having picked a position for the covering rocket firing among civilians they could figure the Israelis would not simply respond with artillery*. In other words, the attack was a feint expecting the Israelis to come in after them as infantry to reduce civilian casualties and they could then spring their ambush.

BTW -- never try that sort of ambush against Americans. We'd just have our artillery "stonk" the position firing at us and not give a damn about how many collateral casualties among the nearby civilians.

* Yes, the "rules" for artillery consider the responsibility for civilian collateral deaths lie with those who sited a firing position among them but then it gets tricky as will depend on the accuracy of the return fire (close enough to the intended target to be considered legitimate return fire?) and besides SOME of us out here consider a position containing civilians immune regardless of how much firing is coming from it.

Palestinian DNA goes back thousands of years in Palestine.

You only have to look at Palestinians to see that they are more local than the new locals.

it would appear that on this occasion at least zionist troops werent using gaza civilians as human shields . A different story when they dont have innocent civilians as living sandbags .

Mikey, even the Israeli source describes the Israeli casualties as 'advancing', so it should be pretty obvious, even to the most biased Pro-zionist (i.e: you) , that they were advancing INTO Gaza. -- From YNET (an Israeli source) http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3868618,00.html

[Israeli] Southern Command Chief Major-General Yoav Galant said on Friday, "The soldiers advanced . . . . . . when the '[resistance members] were seen moving westward . . . (If the resistance had entered Israeli territory the silly General would have said so.)

. . . . Palestinians sources told Ynet on Friday that the fire exchange that left two IDF soldiers dead in the Gaza Strip was a planned ambush. Abu Obeida, spokesman for Hamas' Izz a-din al-Qassam Bridges, said at a press conference, "The organization's interception and observation unit identified an Israeli force advancing into the Palestinian territory and confronted it by directly striking its men." . . . (For once both the Israeli's and the Palestinians seem to be in agreement)

Maybe if you took off the Zio-blinkers for even a moment, you might be able to see clearly, if even for that one brief moment

What is it about you Zionists that causes you to misrepresent or outright lie, at every opportunity? Is it genetic? Or is there a school they send you guys to, to learn by rote, how to lie all the time?

"Israeli sources have claimed that a regular military patrol had come under attack. But the question arises: what was it doing in Gaza?"

It wasn't in Gaza (the patrol that was attacked at the beginning of this). Will make a whole lot more sense if you start at the beginning and not in the middle.

[Hamas spokesperson] Abu Obeida added, "The purpose of this act was to prove to the Israelis that the repeated violations of the borderline will not be tolerated. The Israelis wanted to send us a message, and we responded to them appropriately."
