Opponents of the decriminalisation of abortion have vowed to fight on to block it in the Lords after MPs last night approved allowing women to abort their own unborn children for any reason, using any method, up to birth.

The West?s Cold War-era doctrine of mutually assured destruction relied on rational actors. Iran is not rational, says Clive Pinder. It is eschatological. Islamism is not a deterrable enemy. It is a theological death cult.

Sceptics lose all their scepticism when faced with claims the Government could block out the Sun, says Ben Pile. But this is no less a delusion of grandeur than the idea human CO2 emissions are controlling the temperature.

Response to Israeli Assault on Aid Flotilla

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | opinion/analysis author Thursday June 03, 2010 00:56author by Michael Report this post to the editors

Launching of International Aid Convoy for the humanitarian relief of Gaza.

I would suggest that the most effective response to Israel's attack upon the Aid Flotilla is to organise an International Aid Convoy. Each vessel to represent and be crewed by the nationals of the country sponsoring the ship.

A key strategic element would be to have ships manned and crewed by citizens of nations which give support to Israel in the UN and other international fora.

Each ship should carry only humanitarian goods banned by Israel. All crew and passengers should sign a non-aggression pact. Each ship should carry media teams to record events together with public representatives, members of NGOs and international observers.

To ensure international credibilty, and pre-empt Israeli propaganda details of individuals, crews, cargo and mechanical reports on each ship should be compiled meticulously and provided to a neutral third party.

Lying About The Gaza Flotilla Disaster
It's been one lie after another in the US media about the Israeli attack on the Gaza-bound relief flotilla. No matter that the Israeli media views the whole incident as a debacle for Israel, in this country the Israel-can-do-no-wrong crowd is on overdrive defending the operation. As usual, facts don't matter to them. Except they do.
