Kim Leadbeater's assisted suicide bill has been described by MPs as a "farce", an "embarrassment" and "beyond a joke". But last night's damning statement from the Royal College of Psychiatrists may be the fatal blow.

Asylum Seekers excluded from Ministerial Council on Integration

category national | racism & migration related issues | news report author Friday June 04, 2010 21:12author by Joe Moore - Cork Anti Racism Networkauthor email mapuche at eircom dot net Report this post to the editors

Green Party Minister for Integration, Mary White TD, is to exclude asylum seekers from her Ministerial Council on Integration.

Earlier this week the Minister for Integration, Green Party TD Mary White, issued an invitation for expressions of interest from migrants for appointment to a Ministerial Council on Integration. The letter states " applicants for asylum or subsidiary protection will not be eligible to apply."

In a major interview in Metro Eireann ( 27 May-2 June 2010.) Mary White gave her full support to Dermot Aherne's deportation policy, even when it results in the break up of families. She was asked "What is your position on the deportation of individuals who are married to legal residents? This is, in many cases, an integration issue, as the spouses often have to give up work, college etc if they have young families."
Mary White "The issue is one of integration policy, but principally immigration policy. I do know that the current system concerning deportation decisions takes account of the family and domestic circumstances of the person in question, and Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which protects family life. It is important that the system takes such circumstances into consideration."

The reality is quite the opposite, not only are the spouses of legal residents deported but in the majority of cases these are also the parents of Irish citizen children. So much for taking account of family and domestic circumstances.

By excluding asylum seekers from her integration council, Mary White is silencing the most marginalised and discriminated against immigrants.

All immigrant support groups in the state should insist that the council includes asylum seekers. If the minister still refuses, then the council should be boycotted.

Mary White should not be allowed to present herself as the champion of immigrants but should be exposed as a supporter of Dermot Aherne's racist policies against asylum seekers.

The Greens don't really like ordinary folk do they ?

Thats cos they are a concoction of FF/PD who don't really like rubbing
shoulders with people, sure they even have the arrogant and lying
sense of entitlement that their heroes have !!

*Well done Mary White* you stayed in the party when all the intelligent women left,
the token one always hangs on and gets molly-coddled by the boys. The Green Party
women must adore you

:-)

( The GP will be obliterated in the next election, so we shouldn't begrudge them the
experience of power)

No need to be geting blasphemous about it.After all what could be more appropriate than for the Greenwash Party to be able to undertake its ministerial responsibilities to stable government by applying a nice coat of Mary Whitewash to the Minister for Justification's decoy ducks.I mean, she is the Minister for Integration. And the first requirement in a Minister for Integration is to administer the ingratiation ceremonials necessary to integrate the environmental lobby into the trough dispersal programs.I mean next thing you'll be expecting the Minister for Justice to notice that our passport credentials have been violated in the international arena for terrorist assassinations that put every overseas Irish national under suspicion.Dont you realise these people have HARD DECISIONS to make.

"Green Party Minister for Integration, Mary White TD, is to exclude asylum seekers from her Ministerial Council on Integration."

The foreign workers are leaving by the tens of thousands.
No jobs in Ireland.

Why does Mary White TD still have a job as a "minister" ?

Jobs aplenty for the politicians.

to be the pen and paper-pusher for Fianna Fáil civil servants.
Must be awful to be the one who spit-polishes Eamo Ryan's shoes.

However, this woman stood and applauded the FF budget
which took money from the pensioners and brought them
to the streets in their thousands.

Now she has a new job - not upsetting the applecart for FF/Green and the
bast*ard rump of the PD party.

She is excluding certain people from the table basically ?

How are their experiences to be collated ?

Dear Mary White,

Are you contributing to the lack of information currently available to the Irish people
regarding the welfare of migrants to this country ?

Yours etc,
*Lazy*.

( I will be sending a more extensive list of questions to the various bodies with of course my correct name, address and phone contacts)

"Minister for Integration" is a real makey up job.

One Irish politician making a cosy job for another Irish politician.

At vast expense to the German taxpayer .

Ireland is part of both the OECD and the EU, despite the twisting
and bullsh'it of Fianna Fáil (who try really, really hard to pander to everyone all the time)

There are certain things they must fulfill in terms of Rights and Protections.

Now a Minister for Integration (and equality) whose a bit dim has a job to do...
*Though* she ain't made a comment on the 502 kiddies missing
from HSE care who indeed were from the migrant community

YET.

maybe she could ask her cabinet colleague Ms facebucket at DOHC
WTF is going on with HSE childcare, after she invites the asylum seekers to the table ???

A "Minister for Integration and equality" ?

The Poles and all the other foreigners are going home.

In their droves.

Why do we need this expensive office?
