Fís Nua: A New Political Party in Ireland

category national | politics / elections | press release author Wednesday August 11, 2010 00:55author by Charlie Williams - Fís Nua Report this post to the editors

Fís Nua For a Sustainable Vision

We're pleased to inform you that a new political party in Ireland is on its way. Fís Nua or New Vision.
We see ourselves as a federation of socialy and ecologicaly engaged persons and groups/organisations that want to enter the parliaments.

Our Principles can be found at http://fisnua.com/?page_id=58

In these principles we assert the interdependence of all life. We oppose any destructive processes which are destroying our planet. History has shown us that the irresponsible usage of our planet's resources causes the collapse of basic environmental systems and societies and creates a threat to the very continuation of life on the planet.

" We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. "

Economy driven by short-term profits for the benefit of a few people has to be replaced by an economy which works in a sustainable network for the common good of all life. We cannot accept that a third of the world's human population is starving while 2% own more than half of global household assets. We favour trade where everyone has a fair share in a society guided by self-reliance and co-operation at all levels. Conservation of resources is vital to a sustainable society. The impact of society on the environment should not be ecologically disruptive.

" Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize that we cannot eat money. "

We believe in the equality of every human, no matter what age, ancestry, gender, belief, sexual orientation or disability. We condemn war, violence, militarism, racism and fascism. The need for world peace and justice overrides national and commercial interests.

We want all political, social and economic decisions taken at the lowest effective level, reflecting the decisions reached at the Rio Conference in 1992, 'Local Agenda 21'. Decisions should as far as possible be on the basis of consensus and respect for the rights of minorities.

Everone who supports our Principles is welcome to work together with us for a better sustainable future.

All the best,

Charlie Williams

Note my real name - Ken Yatta (no relation). If Fis is pronounced Fizz the implications for aerated natural spring water supply could make voters bubble up with political happiness.

fisi is a Kiswahili word meaning hyena. Does 'fis' have any hidden lexical connotations? Hapa ni shida kubwa bwana.

Pat, perhaps Geraldine means that you did not consult other Green Party local groups in Wicklow of your decision to resign........... I wish you well Pat and always did. I know you from old.

Geraldine, Bray is not my constituency area??

Connemara man, Fís Nua means New Vision - it has nothing to do with fish. Funny though :-)

The Irish word for fish is "iasc".
Not "fis".

Caroline,

Maybe that's the way your mind works, but I certainly have hopes and ambitions for this country which far far outweigh any personal ambitions. The country is rapidly going down the tubes - it's incumbent on anybody who can to try their best to prevent this from happening.

I have great regard for Ciaran as an ex-colleague, but the Green Parlimentary Party has done so much damage that good councillors like Ciaran and other green ex-councillors could not even hold on to their seats. What realistic chances would they have in a General Election?

Dear Pat,

You resigned from the Green Party to get maximum publicity for youself because you knew you would not get the nod to run as a TD against Cllr Ciaran O'Brien.

Hi Shayne,

If we were all to lie down and complain till the cows came home, there would never be any change in the status quo. I'm not saying Fís Nua has all the answers - but the door is open to any individual, groups or organisations who believe that what they say matters. Rome wasn't built in a day, and we have to start somewhere. But thanks for taking the time to comment anyway.

Just FYI, there have been no election candidates selected as yet. Selection will be up to all members in any given constituency area. If you want to read our constitution, you will find it on the website: www.fisnua.com

Kind regards

Cllr Pat Kavanagh
Independent Green

Old Codger, you are more than welcome to make a submission to Fís Nua's proposals if you feel that the wording of the policies is not strong enough. We are committed to political reform and doing away with the 'old boy's network' that permeates throughout the whole rotten system. Your imput would be appreciated. email info@fisnua.com

This organisation have no chance whatsoever-they are too far detacthed from reality and just wouldn't have the kind of experience to get people elected or a national level. The Green candiadte in Wicklow isnt in politics a wet day and is not a credible candidate. Like is just another talk shop on top of a million other groups-will only split vites and help Fine Gael in. This is reality.

Probably another Spanish trawler. But sure they have to mix something with their chips too. And besides, our trawlers have been off the African coasts doing their share of damage. Then when the Africans find they cannot compete with the mega-fleets and try to get ashore in Europe to fed themselves we fuck them back like they were undernourished sprats.

A new party has to take the bull by the horns and have a firm policy to reform politics. I see nothing in your manfiesto stating that you will make political criminals pay for their crimes. Both the Judiciary and the Gardai have been corrupted by the govrnment and they also need to be reformed. You say that you support the policies of Shell to Sea but make no comment on the fact that the Irish people are deliberately being denied access to International law by both Fianna Fail and the greens. THE Aarhus Convention has not and will not be ratified by our corrupt government. They do not want people to have any input into what happens in their communities.
Many promises were made by a party that professed to hold the same ideals as you, but all were renaged upon when they went into government with known criminals.
Unless you can convince the public that you are truthfull and mean what you say (and that will be tough in the situation this country is in) then you will have wasted your time.
The deeds of the crooks that have been selling our nation down the drain have not all been revealed yet ,many secrets have yet to be uncovered.
